skin problem

skin problem

ever since i was 14 i've had bad skin(on & off), i know its not THAT horrible, I've seen realllly bad skin but i just wish i could have clear skin, my pores clog, i have so many blackheads, before my period i break out like crazy, the only time that i remember that i didnt have a problem with my skin was when i was on birth control. now i noticed over the past 3 weeks its gotten so much worse, i look in the mirror and i just want to cry.
i've tried proactiv, i use st.ives scrub, biore scrubs, last june i went to a great dermotologist and got some expensive cream (over $200) it just dried up my skin, yeah it cleared but as soon as i stopped using it - my skin went back to its old self.
should i just accept it and go on with my life or is there something - anything out there. I know there's so many ladies out here and im sure someone has to know what im feeling and going through, any hope?
Im also afraid to go for a facial because im under the impression that once you start - you have to keep on going

Re: skin problem

I have a friend with tempermental skin and when its bad it gets really bad. She started seeing a nutritionist who taught her how to eat and helped her fix her skin from the inside out. He also gave her special herbal vitamins and she did colonics too. Maybe you should try the natural route. Im sorry youre dealing with this. I know how frustrating it can be from seeing what my friends have gone through.

Since you tried chemicals maybe the natural route would work for you. Colonics is that gross procedure where they clean you out from your behind. Sorry I didnt know how else to put it

Did you ever try changing your diet before??

Re: skin problem

i will say - STOP going for the chemical skincare brands...YES they work for a time & they work for some..but because the ingredients go in & mess with your ph levels, your skin becomes dependent on them...also because of the drying factors of chemical skincare u're aging your skin a TON more than it would if u weren't! I would highly reccomend switching over all ur makeup to bare escentuals & using the all natural skin care line that they have. I'm not telling you this because i work for the company, but because i'm a customer turned fanatic employee..if you have problem prone skin especially if it's sensitive to chemical treatments TRY IT. the makeup DOES NOT clog the pores..it actually helps clear up the skin because the five ingredients are rejuvenating for u. They also have an all natural cleanser, an on spot treatment, and a nighttime treatment(Rareminerals skin revival treatment..and make sure u get a color - not the clear because the clear is more processed & not as benificial!(when u see the stuff u'll understand what i'm talking about lol).. the nighttime is a miracle in a jar if u're consistent with it and IT'S ONE STEP...and it WORKS. You can talk to Jess(Aug07OFCbride)...she just recently started using the makeup and after she got the hang of it, she's been really happy with the results. u can feel free to FM me if u have ANY questions about it! I have every skin issue known to man & my skin has truly transformed. it's amazing stuff that your skin will without a doubt benefit from..and the best part is that it does everything in a NATURAL way!! good luck and again, feel free to ask if u have any questions!

I've become a lover of tea tree oil.

I've been dealing with skin issues on my legs (not my face) for 5+ years. I saw a dermatologist and I've been on antibiotics (for 8 weeks straight), antifungal creams, ointments, steriods, steroid tapes, clinical-grade anti-microbial soaps, you name it. I stopped taking ALL DRUGS and just started washing and moisturizing with tea tree oil products, and OMG what a difference. I don't itch, burn, ANYTHING.

PURITANS PRIDE is located right in Bohemia, but they're offering 76 cent shipping right now...with the price of gas, it's cheaper to ship! Most of their products are on sale through 7/5/08 for buy 1 get 2 free. You really can't beat the prices, and the products come direct from the manufacturer.

I use the skin wash in the shower.... it comes in a pump bottle I even shave with it!

I have very dry skin, so I also moisturize with the cream.

The skin wash smells nice....like roses.
The cream smells like tea tree oil... not too nice. Kinda like a tree and dirt.

eta: I was also on Doryx - for 8 WEEKS. It didn't help me at all

Re: skin problem

I have tried it all above my skin has had issues in the last year or so. Never had it this bad only some time to time breakouts and than i pick so it makes it worse.

I am now about to go on accutane. I wrote a thread about it - got tons of responses about it.- mostly good but it is very involved.

I will be on it by next month I can keep you updated on my progres as I go along.

Re: skin problem

SOmething I have learned over time is when you get older your skin changes....so using the same things to clean your skin that you did in High School isnt going to work. I always used Noxema-why fix it if it aint broke-well as I got older it started making me break out and dried out my skin.

now I use St Ives Scrub, a mask once a week and baby lotion (yes in the pink bottle) if i even switch it up for 1 day...i break out.

I dont have a recommendation except for you really have to TRY things for longer then a few days bc you dont know how your skin will react until you have used it normally.

Re: skin problem

whatever you do... DO NOT use bare essentials... : you know how you have thin fine hair on your whole face it almost sticks to the hair so they look like they have hairy faces...

A friend of mine has skin like yours and had a horrible experience with this brand... it makes you look cakey if you have bad skin

taryn, where do u work that you sell this makeup??

I highly HIGHLY reccomend going in to a Bare Escentuals boutique and having them show you the process...the majority of people who pick up a kit and do it themselves 9 times out of 10 dont apply it right...it's very simple, but it is VERY different than traditional makeup. It has techniques and tricks that really make a HUGE difference in how it looks, feels, etc...and even which brush u use depending on the condition of your skin can make all the difference in the world. Most people will just order it off tv or pick it up at ulta or sephora...and the people that DO do this, will tell you that once they REALLY learned about the application process that it made a huge HUGE difference. Right now the only boutique on Long Island is in Roosevelt Field...I work at the one in Queens Center. They are putting one in Smithhaven - but its going to be brand new so i reccomend taking the trip to the other locations and really working with an artist who knows their stuff. It really is great, but like everything - it's not for everyone as there will always be positive & negative opinions...worth trying though! i can only speak from a positive experience & most who really try it end up loving it...
good luck!
