Slow Board Question: What was your favorite place to visit as a kid?
I was driving to the gym the other day and passed a school in Centereach on Holbrook Rd. where this HUGE wooden playground used to be. The place was sooooooooo cool!!!! I can still remember all the hiding spots and different things to play on. I used to love going there...where did you love to go?

I know exactly where you're talking about!! I loved that place too. I loved going to Hoyt Farm in Commack. It's right around the corner from my Grandma's house and we used to go there allll the time.

my Grandparents house...they lived a few minutes from us, so I was there every weekend and usually after school too. They passed many years ago and I miss them to this day...I always have dreams about visiting their house, it was like a second home to me.

Prospect Park!!! My grandpa used to take my sister and I on sundays after church and breakfast to Prospect Park in Brooklyn. We'd go to the zoo and playground. It was alot of fun

The Beach. We would go to Church, eat breakfast, pack lunch and go. We would be there from like 10AM to 7PM.
I bet we were the only people in the world who go to the beach and eat lasagna on real plates with real silverware, but at the time I didnt know it was strange. We would eat breakfast and lunch there and even have dessert before heading back exhausted.
We would drive out to Jones Beach from Queens on Sunrise bc that was the only way my dad knew how. My parents and my grandma would take me and my brother and sister. My aunt and uncle would follow with my three cousins. It would take SO LONG to get there, I always thought Jones Beach was in another STATE! The highlight of the trip was this bathroom store on Sunrise where there was a little mannequin boy sitting on a toilet in the show window - LOL!
We would go to the bay and play all day, and then my mom would wipe me down with those wipes that come in that big circular container, the smell of them always reminds me of the beach. I would go home, take a shower, get slathered with baby oil and go straight to bed
Sorry so long

I used to love going to McDonald's on 31st in Astoria. That meant chicken nuggets, the playroom and then Grandma's!

We would go to Lido Beach and have HUGE family picnics in the 'mushroom' area. We'd go to the pool and the park and just hang out from 6am til dark!
