After last night's disaster, I am wondering if anyone has had particularly good luck with a slow cooker recipe? I know we have our newlywed cookbook here, but is there an online place you ladies go to look, or anything like that?

Re: Slow Cooker
i saw ur other post and wanted to tell you that i made a whole roast chicken in the slow cooker a few weeks ago (it was a waldbaums already seasoned chicken). I put cut up red potatoes & baby carrots under the chicken and cooked it for 10 hours. It came out great.
give it another shot! i think the already seasoned chicken is what helped!

Re: Slow Cooker
This is a blog where the woman made a meal in the slow cooker everyday for a year. She posted all of her recipes and what she liked and didn't like about them.

i throw two frozen chicken breasts in the slow cooker, with 3/4 thing of bbq sauce and cook for 5 hours. at hour 4, i open the slow cooker and break apart the chicken with two forks and leave it in for the remainder of the time. then i serve in on a roll with some american cheese melted on it, and its like being at smokin als!

Slice beef in strips, brown in skillet with small amount of oil and place in oblong slow cooker.
Add soy sauce, onion, garlic, sugar and ginger and spoon over beef.
Cover and cook on LOW for 5 to 6 hours.
Add tomatoes and green peppers and bouillon and cook 1 hour more.
Combine cornstarch and 1/4 cup water and stir into cooker.
Continue cooking until liquid thickens.
Serve over hot buttered rice or noodles.

Dont give up=I love my slow cooker. did yours come w/ a book? those are good recipes. sometimes you may need to add water so it doesnt burn. the easiest thing to make is stew. stew meat stew frozen vegs(in freezer section of grocery store-no need to cut or slice) water & packet of McCormick slow cooker stew seasoning. slow 8-10hrs good luck

I haven't given up. The first time was a disaster, but have used it 3 times since, and great recipes. Tonight's was the best, from the crockpot lady who used it for 365 days - basically an Asian pulled beef recipe (similar to pulled pork, but beef).
