Re: SMART CAR

i just cant lol, i already have a hard time adjusting to regular sedans. I drove a truck for YEARS and I still have moments now where i feel differently driving a sedan. That car I just can't do it, I would also feel like I am getting crushed haha. Plus for those with families, that car is impossible. Dh and i joke with eachother and make fun of one another bc he likes the smaller cars and I like big trucks

In europe though they are EVERYWHERE and have been for many years.

I would not get rid of suv this is just an add on car to our household. We would use the suv when needed. The next step is finding an SUV with greener options or better gas mileage

These smart cars are so cute I sat in one the other day and I feel like I don't even need to park it I could put it in my pocketbook.

Re: SMART CAR

I just read the article. It says that when they do the crash test and rank it, they dont rank it amongst ALL cars, but ONLY those that are similar in size. So then what do they rank this one with, mini-coopers I guess. It did rank second but there also aren't as many cars that are similar in size so that's something to think about.

Seems like it does well though in a crash. But I still can't get over the size, its a mental thing

It actually has trunk space, not alot but it does exsit. The room inside is incredible to. The engine is in the back and the funny part about it is that when you push the door in it is plastic and it bounces back at you.

I love the convertible part too

If you like it then definitely go for it, its nice as an extra car and will help ALOT with parking haha, definitely more spots you'll find with that car than an SUV.

Don't go by me, DH calls me a man lol and I don't like girly cars but most women do so its not even putting those cars down. I am one of the odd ones out haha.

Re: SMART CAR

We drove the Smart for 4 in Italy - not much bigger than the 2-seat Smart but surprisingly roomy for such a small car. I would love for the Smart for 4 to come to the States.

It's not just about the cars but when it comes to alot of things and he is not the only one who says that. It's true though and I will admit it

Yeah GM is making electric cars, they already have them set for 2010, although i was watching 60 mins and they dont exactly have a model yet lol. But there are some in california who already are making electric cars. The creator of paypal has invested in this(hes young btw) and they actually have cars on the road already and made quite a few. They even brought it up during the debates and asked how they feel about a large corporation like GM making them or investors in sun valley. The gm one will be more affordable though when it comes out.

Re: SMART CAR

sorry i am not a midget just like I am not a person who needs a hummer to feel important. Too tiny for me to feel safe even though I am sure it is unless a truck hits it going 80 (which would never happen in the city).

um .. I am not a midget and I dont feel like a midget getting into the car. I am tall and big & my other car might just be a hummer

Re: SMART CAR

My statement was more of a 'joke' but to clarify all and all i wouldn't buy a car that small just like I wouldn't buy a hummer because its way to big.

Re: SMART CAR

My DH has one! He loves it! He just got it this May but he ordered it May of '07. When I was looking to buy a new car I had to keep in mind that the car I got had to be big enough if we wanted to start a family in the next few years lol. It's a cool car-great on gas mileage he gets about 35 mpg consistently and that's about half highway/half local driving. I feel pretty safe in it-the only thing that bothers me is when you hit a bump-you feel everything. That wouldn't bother me so much but I'm used to my car. There's a dealership in St. James/Smithtown-not sure where you're located but it might be worth checking it out with a test drive. Feel free to FM me if you have more questions. Here's a pic:
