Snoring

Snoring

I'm sure I'm not the only one dealing with this, but I'm hoping some of you ladies may have come up with some solutions!

DH snores . . . LOUDLY! All night long. Even if I wake him up to get him to turn over, he starts again in seconds. Most nights, I wind up waking up and going to sleep on the couch. He feels terribel that he's disrupting my sleep, but feels like we're becoming more like roomates sleeping in separate rooms.

He wears the Breathe Right strips, but they don't seem to do much.

Any suggestions?

Could he try sleeping on his side that should stop it a bit.

I've tried that, but he just keeps snoring away. He even snores on his stomach! I swear I could hang him upside down by his feet and he'd still snore.

Thanks for the suggestion, though. I guess I'll just have to put ear muffs on over the ear plugs I'm already using.

My dad has something he uses that works well. I will ask him what it is tonight.

Re: Snoring

Maybe he should go for a sleep study...if his snoring is really bad it could be effecting him too.

I have the same issue. These days, I poke him once or twice and then he gets up and goes into the second bedroom

Sorry you're dealing with it too!!!

I always joke that if DH was a snorer I wouldn't be able to marry him (but part of me is a bit serious). But seriously my Dad snored so loudly I used to be able to hear him from my room.
He got some retainer looking thing from his dentist that he wear at night, which helps curb the snoring.

Suffocate him with a pillow?

hahaha my last post was a joke...but alot of the time snoring is due to sleep apnea--which is dangerous. Has he ever been checked for it?

Trust me . . . at 3 am, the pillow option has been tempting. LOL Especially when he snuggles up next to me in his sleep and then proceeds to snore directly in my ear. He's lucky that I love him!

He is stubborn and refuses to go for a sleep study. I don't really hear him do the pause for a few seconds and gasp for air, which seems to be common with sleep apnea (at least from what I've read).

DH is a dentist. I'll have to ask him tonight why he doesn't make himself one of those. HMMM . . he has some explaining to do!!!

Well . . . if you're up at 3 AM, we should exchange numbers. We can at least keep each other company!

Re: Snoring

DH snores but honestly, I sleep through anything so it doesn't bother me.

I am sorry you are going through this. People often tell me about their Spouse's snoring issues and I hear it's horrible! I heard poking them or gently nudging them helps them stop. I don't know if that's true. Maybe you can research snoring remedies and find something that could help.

Man I am glad you posted about this... DH and I sleep in separate rooms because his snoring is SO bad but we are soon moving into a smaller space and wont have a choice but to sleep together. He makes sure to go to sleep after me so I am already out, uses breathe right strips, the throat rinse and I wear ear plugs and I STILL wake up and hear him! The tiniest noise in the world wakes me up so I am not helping our situation. Our next step is for me to get a sound machine.. I am hoping if I can all asleep to crickets and the ocean it will overshadow his snoring!

Yes, we should. At that point it's so hard to get back to sleep that we could just keep each other up until it's time to get ready for work
I totally feel your pain about feeling like 'roommates' though. Sometimes I can go a week at a time without sleeping a full night in the same room with him. Maybe this is the key to a happy marriage totally j/k!

I'm just like you - I'm such a light sleeper that, once the snoring starts, no matter how long I've been asleep, I'll wake right up. I hate the ear plugs sooo much. It's just such an unnatural way of sleeping. I try just sleeping with the TV but it's hard for me because I've always slept in silence We need to start a support group for this sort of thing!

Re: Snoring

I have the same problem with DH!! A lot of the times he gets annoyed because I keep waking him up to turn over that he goes and sleeps on the couch which is totally fine with me! At first it bothered me that he would sleep on the couch but now I actually love it...king size bed for me and my doggie!!

MY DH went for the sleep apnea test and they didn't find anything. Sometimes he snores really badly and sometimes not at all. I think it really depends on a number of factors like drinking, allergies and the humidity in the air. He occaisionally uses the breathright strips and sometimes they work and sometimes they don't.

I guess we are going to be 'roomies' forever! lol
