i feel that the big thing that worries me is what we would do in terms of taking care of the baby during the day.. like, can we afford me being a SAHM? can i find a decent paying position at my job that is part time (i really like my agency)??

thats my big worry so as long as that is spoken about and worked out and i feel that im ready then sure we could start trying in a year or so

Michelle that is exactly my concern...I really want to stay at home with the kids...but I also make a really good salary, work 5 minutes from home, in a school (so we know I have a lit of vacation and great hours) I feel very torn about it so we are waiting bc I feel like when I am FULLY ready I will make my decision in regards to SAH or work and be comfortable about it...I feel like maybe Im not ready so Im making all these excuses, reasons...

DH is not ready yet..I think he needs a year or two.

its really something that i think about a lot.... and i get a knot in my stomach!!

i cannot even imagine putting a 3 month old in day care.... and the cost of day care is crazy!! i'd be working a full time job JUST to pay for day care which is crazy!!!

my ideal situation would be to work a part time job (like 3 nights a week) and have DH watch the baby while im at work....but i'd LOVEEEEE to be a SAHM!!!

You know when the time comes we will make it work. I drive myself insane over this and DH is like Liz...if I need to deliever pizza to make it work I will dont stress when the time comes we will make it work.

DH makes a great salary thankfully, but to think of losing mine worries me bc god forbid something happened to his job in these times it is so scary

My sister put her baby in daycare at 4 months old.
Its very hard but she has a great job which pays well, and she gets full medical, dental 401k at her job
Her DH is a small business owner.

You have to make the right choice for you and sometimes its really hard to choose

I really can relate to what you are talking about. DH and I want to start ttc soon but I don't want to work when I have children either. Its sort of unpartical for us, because we need the two incomes. Its a hard balance.

I am a daycare provider, I have been for 9 years. It is so hard to put your baby in daycare. I couldn't do it, and I know the babies I care for are loved and spoiled, and I treat them like I would want my own baby to be care for. I love the babies I care for, they are so precious. They make me want one of my own even more than I already do. Since I am out in the daycare world, I see lots of providers and a lot of center workers and directors. There are some great people who love children out there but there is nothing like a moms love. There are also some awful people who are only in it for the money. They are cruel to the kids, its really disgusting.

I tell all the parents that interview with me when they are putting their infant in daycare the same thing. Especially to the hesitant parents, I tell them if you can find a way to stay at home, work from home, work part time, or find a family member to care for your baby in your home, you should. Not because daycare is bad, but because daycare isn't like the one on one attention you get at home.

If you think you can work out a way to be a stay at home mom, you really should. Sometimes its soo hard and so many sacrifices have to be made but I think its worth it. Its soo hard here on long island because everything costs soo much.

ps. make sure if you choose a daycare provider, nanny, or center they are licensed!
