So disappointed with our Proofs

We got our proofs back yesterday, and there is not one picture - well OK there is one that is what we call 'creative'. We thought we picked a photographer that would get some creative shots, like many of the ones I have seen on the boards. We didn't. We feel like we paid a premium for a mediocore job - we are really disappointed

Sure, there are enough 'good' pictures to put together a standard album, but we wanted more that that, and we don't have it.

Thank God for the video, he caputed all the great moments, but the expressions of our friends and family, creative angled pictures, 'wow' effect pictures are not what we got.

We met with the photographer and went over with him very specifically what we wanted.
We haven't spoken to him since we got the proofs (yesterday), so there may be something he can do - though I don't know what it is.

Here's the only one that shows any creativity -IMO

Aww that stinks! Before you get too down, meet with him and see if there is anything he can do. It is amazing what types of effects can be added in post production. Although it won't change the actual pictures it might give them a tad bit more of a creative look.

I'm so sorry to hear that I can imagine how frustrated you and DH are. Even though it's too late to fix it, I'd definitely speak to your photographer tomorrow and let him know exactly why you're not happy. This should be brought to his attention.

So sorry you are not happy. I have to tell you, I saw your post on picking the thank you picture and I thought those pictures were beautiful!

I had this problem with my photographer.

You're lucky you got one creative pic. I didn't even get that and I also I went over what I wanted numerous times with him

My mom was so unhappy she decided that she didn't even want a parent album.

Sitting here, 'talking' about it makes me even madder. I mean he didn't take one picture of the a table, a centerpiece.
I specifically asked him to take a picture of the placecard table - I make really nice calla lilly placecards, HE NEVER TOOK A PICTURE!!!

look at my question on BHB, I want to know what you got and what you wanted. Did you give him a must take list?? I think a lot of it has to do with the photographer and their eye for seeing the shot in the moment and capture it, that cannot be written down.

Helen, maybe the photographer can crop some of your photos so they look more like what you wanted. Your TY pics were so pretty!

No, we didn't do a list. I meant to, its one of the things I overlooked. We met with this guy and told him what we were looking for - we did not want the standard posed pictures, we didn't want photojournalism, in the true sense of the word, but we did want people in unposed pictures.
I specifiaclly asked him to get a picture of the placecard table, a centerpiece, and he took neither.

I agree that much of the creativity lies in the photographers skill, but we saw some of his work when we booked him, and we thought we saw that creative streak.

Our only hope is to get creative with the pictures we go, by zooming and cropping, etc.

I totally sympathize with you on this one since I felt the same, I didn't even get one creative pic really at all, although I can't say I picked this photog because they did photojournalistic shots either. My photog didn't even take a pic of my parents, a posed shot, hello that is the bride's parents!!! All the pics were of the norm, nothing exciting, different, etc.....so I know what you are feeling like. Bottom line I got good enough pics for a album and enlargements but in no way would I recommend them.
