So excited I cant sit still!!!

Our good friends who live upstate are coming down to visit us the last weekend in February!!! They will be the first guests to stay in our guest room! They are newlyweds, too, so we're SO excited!!!

Now I need a little help... they'd like to spend a little time in NYC but I am clueless what to do! I am still having the dizziness/vertigo, so we're a little limited in that aspect. I was thinking of maybe doing Madame Tussaud's (sp?) and a nice dinner at Carmine's or something? Maybe take them to the top of the Empire State Bldg? Help!!!!

I like your idea but i think going to the empire state buidling might make your condition worse plus its like a 2hour wait to get up there unless you go very early in the morning ...i went to madame tussaud and it was a lot of fun...enjoy!

Good point!! I didnt even think of that!! They suggested the Statue of Liberty but I cant do boats and I assume that's how you get there? Is it even open to visitors? I am clueless!

what about serendipity. Also maybe go in the afternoon to carmines instead of at night bc at night on a weekend the wait can be INSANE, not sure if you want to wait there that long. SOmetimes its hard to even find a seat by the bar area. But then again serendipity can be a long wait.

Maybe rockefeller center, central park.

yeah you take a ferry, plus inside as you go up higher the stairs are all spiral and narrow and you kinda go in a circle.

What about the planetarium or MOMA, museum of natural history.

oooh yay! You can go to the sex museum lol if that is your funky kind of thing. It was kind of cool. I brought my 2 friends from Michigan to see it when they came.

If you can't really go to any specific tourist spot, maybe just take them through the village? Maybe go to Jeckyl and Hydes :) I love that place.

The Botanical Gardens may be nice to go see too. I don't know what they have this time of year, but that would be nice to do. Hmmmm that's all I can think of lol

How fun Marisa!!!!

Madame Tusseuds is really fun! If they (you too) like museums, go to a few.
Carmines is awesome food!
Go through Times Square during the day and at night.
Go to Rockefeller Center, Central Park.
Take one of those Tour buses (the double decker). Good way to see alot of NYC without walking alot. You can hop on and off wherever you want.

Oooh I forgot about Rockefeller Center! Thanks, Denise!

I guess I will have to see where everything is located b/c I cant really do subways or taxi's so ideally we'd need to drive in and park but we're not gonna want to move the car 6 different times.

haha it was kind of corny but interesting. I think it was a little pricey too , but for the trip it was fun to go see with my girlfriends and laugh at stuff.

They had alot of like old 'vibrators' and the 'first' of alot of sex toys. My friends are totally into that stuff, so they enjoyed it. There was actually alot of interesting stuff, but only 2 small floors, so I wound only do it if you and your friends would really be into something different like that haha

:-P

OHHHH, there is an artist that I am totally in love with. He has some of his pieces showcased in the Opera Gallery. If you wind up goign and just walking around, just go and view this place. It's free, but you can't take pictures of anything. There are 2 small floors as well. His pieces are amazing, and I am totally obsessed with him and his wife.

Colin Christian and Sas Christian. Google them :)

Madame Tussauds is really fun & right next to it is Ripleys Believe it or not. They also just opened the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Annex in the city too. Not sure if you are a AAA member- if you are they all give a discount

are you gonna go downtown at all or do you want to stay midtown.

The good thing is that times square, central park, rockefeller center are within walking distance. You can also do 5th ave and go to tiffanys and trump towers if you want, maybe even St. Patricks cathedral if that would interest you.

Well, like I said, I'm trying to avoid having DH move the car a bunch of times, you know? Our friends said they are pretty much open to anything in NYC, so we may just stay in midtown. If we had more notice and my vertigo wasnt an issue, we'd definitely have done a Broadway show b/c they have never seen one!

I think if you stay in the midtown area you'll have plenty to do and see. You can even leave your car in one spot for the most part actually. It will most likely be municipal parking but if you pay ahead oftime for 3 hours or more you should be fine. And to tell you the truth, if you wanted to go somewhere a bit further in that case youre better off taking a cab, bc depending where you go parking might not be great. I drive into the city all the time and do find parking but certain areas takes quite some driving around to find a spot.

Yeah that makes sense. I dont do well in cabs b/c they drive like maniacs and I get bad motion sickness. We'll prob just stay in midtown and can hopefully leave the car in 1 lot all day/night. Thanks!!!

i hate cabs too so i can completely understand that and don't blame you. Just dont let the lot rip you off. Some like to rip ppl off, i remember one time one of them told me $85 i laughed in his face and asked if he thought i was a tourist. Needless to say i didnt park there and went elsewhere and paid $25.
