SO Terrible!

I just heard the 911 tape of the woman calling in her pet chimp 'eating her friends face off'

I have to say I think that's one of the most disturbing things I've ever heard in my life.

i just heard that on the news too. I wonder what really set him off to do that?

I read part of it in the paper, but I didn't get a chance to hear it...not sure I want to.

Any update on the womans condition?

OMG ... a pet chimp? they are animals, they belong in the wild!

I guess this woman is like a 'foster' parent for Chimps and he's old, he's been in TV, Movies, etc...and he basically flipped out and mauled this womans friend...the cops came and they had to shoot him b/c he was on a rampage. The Woman even stabbed him with a knife which infuriated him even more....just so so sad.

the owner said the chimp had lyme disease, but i'm not sure if this has been confirmed yet. super aggression is one of the symptoms of lyme disease.

The chimp's owner had apparently given the chimp a Xanex beforehand.

On the news, they said it was uncharacteristic of the chimp to attack someone and they 'don't know why it happened.' It's a chimp...a WILD ANIMAL!

I hope the woman is going to be okay.

yeah i saw the pics of it too. SHe had the chimp for a long time, i think 13-14 years and everybody said it wasnt like that at all. The friend that came over and was attacked by the chimp used to see it about 5x a week. The problem they say is that she dyed her hair a different color and i guess the chimp didnt recognize her, it got very protective of its owner and attacked her. They did say the chimp did have lyme disease so maybe what the problem was.

But the owner did take action quick and started stabbing the chimp to save her friend. Must've been hard for her.

I can't even begin to fathom that whole scene!

He acted like a human, took showers, brushed his teeth, went potty on the toilet, went on the computer to look at pictures..... and in the end he's still a wild animal.

yeah i think he had been on tv too and was known to be very well behaved. But pets are protective of their owners and unfortunately it being a wild animal you have to deal with that more.

Happened to me years ago. I knew somebody with a pitbull, but it was extremely over protective of its owner. Even hand gestures you had to be careful with. I made a gesture and it attacked me.

I cried watching that news report. I feel horrible for the lady who got attacked and feel sorry for the chimp as well. Something made him change. The woman has had him for 20 years, he ate filet Mignon and drank out of wine glasses. He def had somehting wrong with him when he attacked. Thats why as cute as animlas are they are meant to be in the wild and I could never own one...
