Social security name change

How long did it take to get your new card in the mail?
did anyone mail theirs in? I mailed in on 7/7 in the afternoon....still waiting to get everything back.

i called... they processed it on Monday!!!! They said everything should be to me this week!

SO YES GIRLS!!!! you can mail it in... it just takes a little longer!!!!

I didn't mail it.....but mine was also about 2 weeks. I got my new SS card before I got my new license.

I went to the SS office and I got it in 2 weeks.

I went in last Friday and they told me I'd get my card in 10 days (I'm assuming business days)

Are you in Queens? I think only Queens peeps can mail it in. But anyway-you can go on the SS website to fill out the application for name change and then send that with your marriage cert., passport & birth cert (all originals) to the Jamaica SS office. HTH

Yep, you can mail the filled out form and your original marriage certificate to your local office and they will you the new card and you marriage certificate back. I guess it takes longer that way... but with my job/hours I couldn't really get there to do it. The offices are not open late enough me to get there after work.

It took about 2 weeks for me too, so I would def contact someone at SS (i dont know if there's a number maybe so you don't have to wait online?) When I went to the office in Brooklyn, there was a girl in front of me who had already applied for the name change but never got her card so she had to wait in line again! I am not saying this to freak you out but just in case that did happen (which I hope didn't!!!) maybe there is a way around it so you wouldnt have to wait online again.

I on the other hand had my marriage license 'lost' in the mail and had to pay $25 to get a new one, have everyone sign it...bride, groom, witnesses and deacon and then go there in person to issue a new one!!! Sometimes it just doesn't make sense how things happen!!! GL!!
