I am in an awkward situation and would love some advice. My assistant gave me a x-mas gift - a really nice silver frame and ornament. It's beautiful, but...
The only thing is, where i work, I have about 5 assistants. The owner buys us each a gift, and last year none of us working there exchanged anything.
So, now I feel awful, like a complete cheapskate, since I clearly make more and did not give her anything. Is it too late to give her something? Is it tacky to do so after the fact? Can I gift her without gifting the others?
I feel horrible!

That is a tough one! But first, you shouldn't feel horrible. She's the only one of five assistants to give you anything, which was very nice of her, but unexpected to you. I'm sure she doesn't expect anything in return, especially if no one else exchanged. Maybe pay for her lunch one day and tell her that you really appreciated her gift and that you'd like to do something nice in return. Just an idea, HTH!

That is a great idea. Or maybe you can bring in a basket from Ediblearrangments for the whole office as a thank you and happy holidays kind of thing. This way you aren't singling her out with a gift, and this is sort of your way for thanking her and everyone else at the same time.
