someone help please...puppy advice

someone help please...puppy advice

DH is out of town until tomorrow. Maybe the dog is missing DH or not used to it, but he keeps whining, and whining, and whining. I let him out in the backyard, and all he does is sniff around and try to eat things he shouldn't. Am I just impatient, or is something wrong with him???

I let him out, he goes to the bathroom, we come in and he gets a treat, and then he sits or lays by the back door and whines, and whines, and whines until I either let him out agian or tell him to stop it.

I don't know what else to do. I am playing with him with his toys, but I need to get stuff done at the moment and all he is doing is whining. :( Anyone have any advice??? Is he missing DH?? Is he sick??? Or does he just want my attention 24/7 and when I don't pay attention to him he whines?

Haha welcome to the world of dogs. My german shep won't even eat anything until my dad is home if he goes away for a weekend. They're very emotional. There's probably nothign you can do. Let him sulk it out.

I think your dog is missing your DH, Buddy does the same thing when Ken leaves to go to get some coffee or if he leaves and doesnt say goodbye to him. I'm sure its because a part of his pack is missing.

good luck

This is why I want a female dog lol whenever DH leaves the room, he gets up out of his sleep if he is sleeping, and runs to find him. I get up, and he could care less hahaha :( I need another girl in the house.

I think he is definitely missing DH. Thank god he comes home tomorrow!

My female dog is OBSESSED with my dad. She doesn't even try and hide that he is her favorite.

Yep. Hes missing DH big time. I experienced something similiar a few weeks ago. DH has a Boxer but he lives with inlaws...we decided to take him for a week to give in laws a break. Hes fine when DH is home..the moment DH went to work..OMG! I wanted to kill him. Constant barking, pacing and wining from 6am until 3pm...he had to go the next day! You may want to go to the pet shop and see if they have a calming pill or liquid you can put in his water....they also sell a spray ( I forgot the name) that can help ease his seperation anxiety. HTH

I'm sorry for you. Our dog is the exact same way but with me. I feel bad for DH. If he is home from work, our dog stays upstairs all day and waits for me.

Just keep a close eye to make sure it is not something else. If you notice he is drinking more water, or having trouble going to the bathroom. Loose stools, or vomitting. He may have eaten something that he shouldn't have.

Sounds like he's lonely! My dog does the same thing when I leave but he'll curl up in my clothes. Maybe give the pup one of your DH's shirts or something that smells like him!

After I posted this, I thought about doing that. It seemed to work but I don't know if it was b/c it was DH's shirt, or if it was just another thing to play with lol

He seems to be okay now, I was out for a while at a Bridal Shower and doing laundry and he hasn't really whined much since I have been home. I was cleaning and stuff, and he seemed distracted I guess.

Thanks girls :)

DH's parents dog does the same thing! He will not eat until my MIL gets home. It's insane and I wonder how he will react when they are gone for two weeks in October!

He's definitely missing your DH! My dog is my dog and when I travel he is always looking for me. If DH left went away he wouldn't care as much As long as I'm around he's happy
