Something to discuss-

Something to discuss-

The ladies discussed this on THE VIEW yesterday and they continued the conversation again today. What do you think?

They said that the news is reporting that Obama is getting the 'black' vote and Hillary is getting the 'female' vote.

I don't like the way that sounds. I personally pick the person I vote for based on their policy and not on their gender and race.

I personally think that given that most people (myself included) would find it reprehensible to refrain from voting for someone based on their gender or race, it should work the other way around as well and people shouldn't vote for someone based on their gender or race.

I also think that many people vote for the person for whom they most identify with, which I think helps to explain the phenomenon.

Taryn, I have to agree with you on this one. I won't vote for Obama just because he is black, nor will I vote for Hillary just because she is a woman. Political party has no particular hold on my right now either.

I will vote for the person I feel will do the better job of leading this country for the next four years, to get us out of this war and to get us out of this financial hole.

I definitely agree. The thing that voters need to realize is that we are picking a leader to run our country. I personally don't care if he/she has a penis/vagina or what race they are. Policy, integrity and experience are what matter to me.

i completely agree. unfortunately, not everyone takes the presidental race as seriously as they should. most people will just go to say they voted and pick the candidate most like themselves. it's a real shame.

I saw something on the news awhile back, how they asked all these black people who were planning on voting for him, what state he's from, and little things that anyone voting for someone usually knows. It was just to prove the poin that most of them are only voting for him since he's black. I don't think its right, but thats why we all are allowed to vote.

Edited to add: I realized I didn't say that none of them knew where he is from.

Agreed. I think a major issue with this election is also that many people feel NONE of the candidates are really 'right' for the job. Its going to come down to choosing the one you consider the lesser of the three evils for me personally.
