Soooo my DH and i want to do something special for christmas...

anyone know any local charities that are running toy drives or something? Joe and i were talking and because its our 1st christmas being married, we want to make a tradition, and I'm a fanatic about charity...so we want to combine the 2 but we want something that is sort of special... suggestions?

DH owns a hummer and is part of a club. last year they started to do their own toys for tots and all the guys drive their trucks and they go to the place. dont know the details yet, but when i do ill let you know. i do know that this year they are going somewhere in jersey

Disadvantaged children write a letter to Santa and the organization sends you their letter to grant their Christmas wish. You're requested to get a gift for the kid of about $40. All the info is there on the website, we had so much fun buying the gifts for our kids last year and we just got our new letters this year. It's definitely a new tradition for us!

I do this every year too! it's great! You get a letter from a kid which is soo sweet to read... 'Dear Santa..' soo cute

I usually do it for two kids. You can pick young kid, teen, or a family. I usually do one young kid and one teen and get a couple gifts for them. I love doing this and it's a great way to help kids or families in need.

EDIT: Just requested my letters. I guess they changed it. Now you just put how many letters you want, and it doesn't say the age group. That's fine. I still did 2. I love getting the letters from the kids and sending out the gifts!

I help our church every year with their drive and family adoption. The 2010 girls adopted a family with me in the board last year. If you would like the church's info I can send it to you!

Yeah, last year they just had you put the # of letters too, my DH and I both sign up for one so between us we get two, last year we had a 6 y/o boy and a 16 y/o boy.... this year we both have little kids.

You're right. I remember that last year too now. It must have been my first year that they had you pick child, teen, or family. I can't wait to get my letters!

Our tradition is just donating our frozen turkeys that our companies give us to the local church, as well as old coats and clothes.
