OK so if this is too personal you don't have to answer...but yesterdays Q of the D got me thinking.
If you and DH have planned not to have children how did you both address that issue? Like did you mention it and he say he totally agreed or did he not know whether he wanted them or not and now that you are married he knows he doesn't want them?
And for those who say I don't want kids but DH does in the future, did you never really make this a big issue in your relationship? Like did DH not care that you don't want kids and think you might change your mind (or visa versa, you want them but DH doesn;t)?

i have another question.....if you found out your DH was infertile before your wedding would you still marry him? its something i always thought about - what if one of us 'can't' have kids....what would it do to our relationship and where would we go from there.....
Wow Nicole that is a tough one! I can imagine the strain that this situation would place on a couple.
Personally I would be devasted to know I was unable to have a child. I am pretty certain DH would be devasted to find he was sterile.
I would support DH 100% and explore our options...whether it be invitro or any one of those procedures or adoption. I would not stop until I had a baby though that is certain!
Same here - we talked about it before and he said that even if i couldn't get pregnant he still would want to be with me b/c he thinks id be a good Mom - and i feel the same way about him - that no matter what he would be a great father....although it would break my heart if we couldn't have our own child naturally....but its something we have talked about before - just b/c you never know....

Oh I totally think it needs to be discussed...eveyone has different needs/wants. For some people they say that if it is gods will to have a baby okay if not they will be happy just the two of them.
Personally I would NOT be happy. I would want to try alternative options if I was unable to concieve naturally..DH is FULL aware that I would not stop until I had my baby! And he totally agrees with me. It is important to know where your DH stands with regards to that....remeber Charlotte and Trey????

We discussed kids before we got married and both of us said we wanted. A little before we got married I changed my mind and wasnt sure anymore if I wanted and I still dont know if I do. DH still wants but not for 5-6 years. So I gotta see how I feel then.

we talked about kids before we were married. That's when DH wanted to become a father right away. I was like HELL NO! I explained to him how much WORK raising a child can be and how demanding of a job it is. I explained that we'll be newly married and for us to add a child to our family could cause a lot of strain to our relationship. We need to be married at LEAST a year, but I'd prefer even longer (since we're still so young). He realized that i was right and agreed. Nowadays he's even more about waiting than I am, which is too funny to me. I think he's seeing how much fun we're having together and we don't want to ruin that too fast. Once you have a kid everything changes. So we've really gotta be READY for it. I'm glad that we're both on the same page. That would kill me if I wanted a kid and he didn't, or visa versa. It just wouldn't be fair.

that's definitely something that should be discussed BEFORE the wedding. Me and DH even talked about this before getting engaged. What if one of us finds out that we can't have children? What will we do? It helps to consider it. Of course i would still marry him. It would break my heart, but that doesn't change how much I love him (he feels the same way).
DH even said that if we found out that I could have children, but HE couldn't, then I could go to a sperm bank or whatever - but I am totally against that. I feel like it has to be all or nothing. I wouldn't want to have a child that technically is ONLY mine or ONLY his. I'd rather us just adopt a baby who by blood is neither of ours, but legally and in our hearts belongs to BOTH of us. You know what I mean? So yeah, we discussed it ALL! lol.

Absolutely. I love my DH for the man he is, not the sperm he can produce.
We discussed having kids VERY early in our relationship (we've been naming our unborn children for years). But if we ran into issues, and fertility treatments were not an option, we'd adopt. There's more than one way to have a family!

Re: Sort of a Q of the Day!
Since we are both elementary teachers, we both love kids...he wanted to wait till we have a house but then one night he decided he didnt want to wait any longer So a 2 bedroom apt will be fine for now (if we get pregnant) we also talked about what would happen if for whatever reason we cant have a baby but im really hoping that it wont be a problem...but if it is we will do whatever we have to so we can have a child (even if it is adoption)
and if when we first met, he told me that he didnt want to ever have children then i wouldnt be with him...bc i really want one and its important to me

I feel exactly the same way. We'll probably start trying pretty soon. I don't even want to think about the 'what if's' we will deal with them if we have to. But we love each other and there is nobody else I would want to be the father of my children - whether they are naturally conceived or adopted or what.

This is a great question...Dh made sure to double check with me that i did not want kids before he proposed...and then he double checked again before the wedding...when i was younger in my 20's i wanted kids...now all my friends & family have them and i see the reality of it all..and it's just not for me...i have nieces & nephews i love to death but enjoy coming home to the peace & quiet after.
