I studied abroad in Granada in college and loved it! I second Barcelona- its one of my favorite cities in Europe, hands down. Definitely check out Toledo, Sevilla, Granada, Barcelona, Cordoba (near Sevilla), and so much more. I'm jealous!

We went there for our honeymoon. Can you sneak me in your bag??? Basically, everything they said. Make sure to check out all the Gaudi works in Barcelona and maybe take a day trip to Figueres to see the Dali Museum.Segovia is supposed to be awesome but I've never been.

Re: Spain??????????
We are going to fly into Madrid, and spend 2 days there. Then we're going to Seville from there for 3 days and then from there to Barcelona for 3 days.I'm trying to get the hubbster to chop a day from Seville and a day from Barca and stop at the Costa del Sol but hes telling me its too much running around... but I'm really not a city person on vacation, i'm a 'i wanna lay on a lounge chair' kinda gal so am I going to be miserable? Do I have to MAKE him stop at Costa del Sol? Or are we ok if we stay somewhere close to the beach? We're eyeing the Hotel Arts or Le Meridien?

One of my most favorite hotels in the world is the Hotel Don Carlos in Marbella on the Costa del Sol. Make him go to the coast - Spain gets SUPER HOT!! especially in the summer.

When you are in Seville, you MUST stop at Vineria San Telmo. It was one of the best food experiences we had there. Vineria San TelmoIt's a tiny place on a little block with lots of restaurants on the same block. It's amazing though and probably has the nicest staff. Spain is not known for dining hospitality.

Re: Spain??????????
barcelona has beaches but they're not as beautiful as the real beach towns in spain. i like to lounge on the beach too, so i would push to change your intinerary.

I agree that the barcelona beaches are okay but not fabulous
in barcelona I went to gaudi museums, the cathedral he worked on (amazing) also took a day trip to Montserrat which I loved - it's an abby so not a lot there but it's a gorgeous church and has some amazing (but HOT) hiking trails and phenomenal views. .
also if you like art at all DEF go to the Joan Miro Foundation Museum slightly outside of the city..
oh edited to add Madrid has a beautiful opera house that has operas, concerts etc. . if you like that type of stuff it can def be worth a ticket. . summer they also tend to have a lot of music and theater festivals outside. . (theater might not be so fun if you speak spanish but music can be nice)
