We aren't going to the Vegas wedding we were invited to for May..
Along with their invite they sent their HM registry....
So, with that being said.. do you girls think I should put money toward their honeymoon or just send them a check? And how much do you think?

Exactly and to me I have a problem with that. For that I send you a check as a gift and you do what you want with it. Unless you know that the couple is tight on money and that is the only way they can afford to go.

whether they pick activities or not doesnt matter bc the money doesnt actually go towards the activities. They get a check in the total amount ppl put towards everything on the registry. So not like they actually get a GC lets say to go swimming with dolphins or whatever it is lol.

And I guess this is what bothers me about the whole concept bc I feel it is misleading to the guests.

EXACTLY! and what i dont like. I think there are some HM registries that actually give you what ppl purchased for you but most do it the other way. I think its very misleading too, why even have all these activities and stuff on there that ppl take their time to pick out for you and then they think they are actually paying for that activiting. But most dont know that the couple doesnt actually get that, they get a check. I also feel like its misleading.

thats awful! i wonder if the travel agent makes any money on this? So annoying! I think its a bit rude to send an invite out to a destination wedding and put the HM registry in there. Its basically saying, hey come to my wedding and pay for my honeymoon!

hmmm not sure but the TA probably gets a percentage.
Oh yeah didnt even think about that part. Travelling for a destination wedding is already more than enough.

I mean regardless you are going to give a gift, but to throw something like that in there with the destination wedding is a bit much, JMO.. People are going to give what they can regardless though...

yeah i completely agree. If you dont feel comfortable with it then dont get something off the registry. Hey even with regular registries youll have someone who wont use the registry but get something on their own so just do that then.

I am very against HM registries for many reasons including what everyone has stated so far. I say, just send a check. Or throw them completely off and buy something off their regular registry!

Re: Speaking of HM registries...
We had a honeymoon registry and at my shower and I received almost ALL of the activities and we did ALL of them! We took pictures and sent them to the people that gave that to us! It was so fun and I am all for HM registries.
However since they didnt sign up for any activities...just send them $$$, its the same thing though if you think about it.
