Re: Speaking of how expensive it is to purchase a home on Long Island...
Are you involved with this program? I feel like people have been talking about the 'brain drain' for years and so far not much has been done to change it...I live in Next geration housing which was a great program and they bost about it...but there are only 28 units! The 55 and older portion have over 100 units! and they brag about what they've done for the younger generation....All the live here know full well these 28 units was the only reason they were able to get permits to build the rest....

Yes, I am involved with this group and I have been involved with various others (some of which haven't been so successful, so I know what you mean). But, to be honest, part of the reason why they have not succeeded is because people in our generation haven't really gotten on board AND people in our generation do not vote - so the politicians don't listen to our needs, while listening to the needs of the older generation.
It's important to let our representatives know that this is an issue and that we will not be quiet anymore.
So, I hope you can attend this rally.
I hope others who post on this board all the time about the expensive cost of housing also DO something about those complaints - a good way is to attend this rally!

Thanks for posting.
Ironically, the rally is being held the day before we are taking a trip to GA to look into moving down there.
The rally definitely looks like it's worth going to.
