This is in no way meant to cause drama, but i am just wondering for those of you that did day-after pics? Why? I mean I understand that it's fun to get into your dress again and what not, but i don't know... i guess i feel your wedding is over, why try to recreate it? i would always look at this pictures and think: 'but it wasn't REALLY my wedding?' Know what I mean? and some of you even did them several months to a YEAR after your wedding... so i am just wondering why some of you decided to do it??

Re: Spin-off to Day After Pics
lots of girls do it cause they weren't happy with the pics that they took on the day of their wedding...be it because of timing on the day of, or the pics that they did receive were not the quality that they expected...that's the big reason i've seen...

Re: Spin-off to Day After Pics
I haven't done them but I was seriously considering it. I wasn't thrilled with my pictures at all, it was hard even finding ones that I wanted enlarged. I think I've decided against it, I'm not spending any more money on anything wedding related.
I've actually decided to have a session w/ the photographer I was going to use and go to a park and do a family shoot w/ DH and the kids.

Re: Spin-off to Day After Pics
I just like the creativity and the whole concept and not to mention the relaxed environment! I am a huge photography fan so I jumped at the chance to do something 'different'. I was also inspired after I saw a few girls pictures and decided to go for it myself. I did it alone though bc DH didnt want to do it. Also - not many of my friends or family were 'getting' so I didnt tell too many people at first - it but after they saw the pics they were really wowed.
On a side note, my I had dress drama for awhile and in the end I also got several runs in it on the wedding day! I also do alot of research to find out if my dress would be salvagable if I went in the water and found out it will be just fine!

Re: Spin-off to Day After Pics
I did them alone with out DH and it was in no way to try and 'recreate' my wedding day... i know that may sound silly but i just LOOOOVED my wedding dress and i know darn well ill never get to wear it again so why not now?... also on the day of the wedding my photog did really do any of the 'artsy' shots which i though i would be getting so i really wanted to get some of those in my gown and figured this would be a great way to do it.. It was alot of fun and i would def. do it all over again!

Re: Spin-off to Day After Pics
I just booked Day after pics For sept 27th
I was going to do them, i thought you had to do them with DH, and there is no way he would do that again
But then i saw a few girls doing them alone and they were beautiful
I spent alot on my dress, and i really want to wear it again, i dont think i want to trash it. Because i love it so much. But i do want to get some creative pictures with it one more time before i put it away.
There was a post on LIF about why people are doing boudoir pics and its pretty much goes like this. Everyone spends their money differnetly and what someone sees is wasteful another doesnt. Pictures last forever and its nice to look back one day later on in life and remember that special time in your life.

Re: Spin-off to Day After Pics
I am doing them almost 2 years later. I am a creative person and I love the shots plain and simple. Its not meant to take the place of my wedding pictures wich I love. Just meant to be creative intimate shots that you could not do on your wedding day. To each His own!

Re: Spin-off to Day After Pics
Maybe some girls can't get over their wedding day
I see your point.. However, for me personally it was done b/c we were approached by photographers to be used for advertising internationally. We did not have to pay money for the session and it was a chance to get more use of my dress that was quite costly to just wear once!
I mean really how many times can you get an opportunity to do that
I decided to lightly trash it later b/c the dress was ruined anyway after preservation. Most girls don't know their dress is ruined b/c they don't take it out of the box Not all material does well during this process. Wedding dresses were not meant to be cleaned and worn more than once believe it or not the manufacture big name or not will make a sample much better than the custom order. Learned this from my MIL who is a seamstress.
Trashing the Dress was such a liberating experience. I was glad I was able to inspire some of the girls to do it
I also love photography and just b/c I was able to have this done at no cost doesn't mean I don't think it is wonderful of all you girls to want to have creative relaxed pix of you and the DH. You will have them years to come and look back at. That is something you cannot put a price on
On a side note - It is all relative to what you think being over your wedding really is. I mean I guess I can raise the Q. - Why keep posting on a wedding website than? I am sure most peps outside this community doesn't understand that

Re: Spin-off to Day After Pics
Thanks everyone for your replies. I was just curious about the whole thing really! For me, I don't think it would be an expense that i would undertake, but like some of oyu said, to each her own! And anyway I don't think i could fit back into my wedding dress!

Re: Spin-off to Day After Pics
We're doing them in about a week and for us, its no attempt at all to recreate our wedding day (diff dress and everything). Its more of something I thought would be fun for us to do together for our 1st anniversary. I LOVED my wedding pics, so its not about that either. Id just love to have artistic/romantic shots of us. We didn't get a chance to really do our own portrait session on our wedding day, except for squeezing in a few at different times, because of my mobility issues so we thought this would be a nice thing we could do together and there wouldn't be any rush. We could just enjoy it. Plus after I saw the photogs work, I was eager to work with her It really isn't anything we're taking too seriously tho. Just something for fun. To each his/her own!!
