yep, with both the good and bad qualities.

They are similar in so many ways

but DH is EXACTLY like HIS dad

I love my dad hes the best...and I absolutely adore and LOVEEE my dh. They are nothing alike.

The only thing they have in common is politics and religion.

yes! they are so alike it's scary....they even read the exact same books. they're such nerds they mails books back and forth to each other.

i actually think it's kinda cute though

A few girls mentioned this on the MIL thread and I'm wondering if your DH is like your dad?

It's funny..DH is a combination of my father (who passed away when I was 6) and my step-dad.
My dad was a clean-cut professional, white-collar worker, very intelligent, who liked (or at least dreamed of) the finer things in life. He liked to run, liked to read, and loved politics. DH and my father are alike in so many ways that we often joke that my dad must have hand-picked him from heaven.
My step-father is a much more casual, blue-collared worker, but also very smart. He has a very mechanical mind. He likes getting his hands dirty and isn't afraid to do anything himself.
Mix the two together and you've got my hubby! I think I was looking for the best qualities of both my dads.

Im all late on this but answering it anyway!

DH is definetly alot like my dad, which is good because I adore my dad. For all his faults, he is a good man. Doesn't drink, cheat, gamble, or abusive towards us in any way. He's not the most intelligent man in the world nor is he the most put together but he loves his family, works hard and would do anything for my mother. So those are the qualities I wanted in the man i marrried and I got them and then some.

Dh and Dad are both blue collar laborers and as odd as it sounds, I love that my DH comes home smelling of auto grease sometimes (he still does mechanics on the side) because it reminds me of being little and hugging my dad when i was scared and smelling the same grease smell (he drives a truck for the NY Dept of sanittation and DH drives a car carrier). They both live for their families even when they grumble, and would do anything for their wives. Neither is a big drinker or abusive if any way, both home bodies to a point who prefer spending time with the people they care about. Pete like my dad didn't get a college degree but he is honestly the smartest person I know because he is incredibly social and likes talking to people of all walks of life and he listens to all the talk radio programs so most times I with my college degree feel lol.

Both men make me feel completely safe. only two people in the world I totally let my guard downa round because I know they can fix whatever comes my way if they're there. And they get along really well which is important because my dad never liked ANY of my b/fs. But he LOVES DH.
