Spinoff - Do you know anyone on the pill who got pregnant

When I am on the pill (which I am not right now), I still get scares of being pregnant but so many people say it isnt possible. Plus i would forget to take my pill sometimes so that was annoying.

Do you know anyone who got pregnant while on the pill?

Yes my sister!!! And her daughter just turned 1

31 years ago but yes, my Aunt got pregnant with my cousin...I'm sure the pill has been changed quite a bit since then though

a friend of mine and even crazier she didn't know she was pregnant till she was around 7 months. (she is a heavy girl to begin with, but still)

i do but they were def not the most responsible girls i know so i really dont think they were taking it correctly...

i was on the pill for the last 5 years with DH and we never had a scare until i went off the pill

i used to set the alarm on my cell to go off at the pill time, so i rarely missed a pill

YES! and there was a whole article in Self magazine this month about it. It said something about the pill being 99% effective- but people screwinggg it up- like when you forget to take your pill and you double up- apparently you are supposed to use back-up- I didnt know that and we never have- scary.

also it said how many women didnt know when they ovulate and I have to admit, I had to look that up too- I was totally wrong!

yes! the pill is 99% effective when taken correctly. if not taken correctly, even a few hours from your normal time, it can happen.

yeah, my co-worker (last year) she was on antibiotics for something and it lessened the efficacy of the BC

Yeah it can be very effective but you have to take it everyday at like the same time and not miss and also if you are on any antibiotic it could mess it up so you would have to use back up.

Nothing is 100% though..

my friend did. she was traveling for three months with her DH and thought she was just missing her period because of the hectic schedule...she was on the pill afterall. she came home 2 months PG

yes - so even though I am on the pill DH pulls out - just in case and if im on antibiotics we usually abstain or use back up.....he can't wait until we try for a baby b/c he has pulled out every single time

well the pill is supposed 2 prevent ovulation - so if you miss a dose or forget it could def cause you to ovulate and if you ovulate you can get pregnant - the pill also makes it harder for the sperm to make it to the egg in case you do end up ovulating - but still anything can happen - and women in their 20s are usually very fertile otherwise so def have to be careful....that is the reason DH still pulls out even though i use birth control - it makes the chance a little less (although we all know pulling out isnt very efficient on its own).....plus i think its nice that we can share that experience for the first time when we are ready for a family

I know a few people that the people hasn't worked for, and suposedly they were pretty diligent. They all seem responsible so I tend to believe them.

I've been off the pill and just got my monthly this week and am going back on it this Sunday. With the change of insurance and last name to DH's i couldn't get my pills. I did skip my period but thankfully I wasn't preggars I just was stressed...LOL. DH can't wait until I'm back on the pill. I think I'll have troupble conceiving because I'm overweight, so I guess I don't worry too too much when I'm on the pill.

You really do have to take the pill everyday at the same time for the most part for it to be effective, but even with the pill it's ultimately all luck of the draw.

I was just having this conversation the other day with a friend. Her coworker is 3 months pregnant and didn't know it. She kept taking the pill. She was on Seasonique where you don't get your period regularly.
