I was just curious...how many of us are actually homeowners ie...own our own house/condo/apartment etc.???

DH and I did things backwards. We purchased our first home 2 years (yup 2 years!) before our actual marriage. We decided it was important to have our own place first to call home and get settled in before we tied the knot.

WE were so close to buying a condo before we got married. It was a 2 bedroom and at that time the asking price was 295K haha...thank GOD we didnt buy. We ended up renting, saved a good amount of money. We still feel that we need to save more. We are making it so the payment is small enough so that If I had babies I wouldnt have to work if I didnt want to. We have about one more year to go of some serious saving and we will be set. Hopefully by that time the prices hit rock bottom. I think they are pretty low right now though.

Im actually curious to know if everyone put down the 20% plus closing costs. Am I the only one stressing about this?

Dh had ahouse before he and i met so we always had one...hoping to move in the near future though!

we just got all our permits, they now are starting to build, when they start getting somewhere I will be taking pics and I will post them.

we closed on our house about a month before our wedding
ETA we didn't really move in until we got married though because it took that month leading up to the wedidng to fix it up and all

We currently live in an apartment. DH is in a special program at work and technically we are not supposed to buy a house until the program is over. So, the earliest we can look is like May/June of next year.

We both own 1 bedroom coop. After 3 years dating together we sold each of our own apt and bought brownstone together.

I bought a co-op before DH met so we are living here. Since it was just me I had pleanty of room but with 2 of us here it is a little tight. Since we are TTC it will get even tighter if things go our way.

WE just started looking... were going to wait until spring but one came up on our block LOL So anxious to have SPACE and a nice place!!!

We closed on our house 6 weeks before we got married. It was crazy!! Our home is super tiny but we love it.

Dh bought our house 2 years b4 we started dating. It was a bachelor pad up until I moved in and decorated. We plan on doing major construction soon. I would rather move!!

I would love to buy a house so would dh but we don't make enough to afford a house. I don't want to take a freakish loan out like my friends did and put a low down payment down so we can eat cat/dog food for the rest of our lives or worse yet get foreclosed. So we are trying to save up and have at least 20-30% down payment and if we still can't afford to live in NY we are going to leave.

We rent a two bedroom apartment with everything included for $1,380.00 so i am thinking taxes, heat, elec, water, morg, etc it would be WAY more then that per month and we only can cover that and maybe a hair more. But then again we really don't know very much about houses and mortgages we just go what my brother and parents did.

Where do you rent? I am paying $1280 for a 1 bedroom & I have to pay my own electric bill....
