I didn't want one - my mom has one and I think its more of a pain to clean.

Re: spinoff to registry question: salad spinners

I use mine all the time...we eat a lot of salad. I also use it on any green leafy veggies that we'll be cooking.

I've had one for years...I can't imagine NOT having one, but we use it at least once a day/once every two days.

Strainer in the sink. This is usually one of the first things I do when I start cooking so the lettuce dries. If its still wet when I'm ready to put the salad together I'll just pat everything dry with papertowel.

It's not. It's basically cleaning a bowl, a colander, and then the lid. It takes up space in the dish rack, yeah. That's a con. But the pros outweigh the con IMO.

Re: spinoff to registry question: salad spinners

I have 1 but bought it at marshalls after the wedding. I've always had one at my mom's and we always used it so for me I found it to be necessary. But 90% of the time we buy pre-packaged/pre-washed salad.
