what are you most afraid of (if you are afraid) about having a baby??
i think for me, its the $$$ side of it. i had posted on the other thread on 08 that me and DH are in a lot of debt right now (ILs loaned us about 15k to help pay for the house) and we have a good 4k on our credit cards... we really need to pay that off within the next 8 months or so AND THEN start saving $$ before even thinking about TTC.
PLUS - i'd really like to be more comfortable in my job.... i would LOVE to be a SAHM - but not really sure if we can do that financial wise.... it kills me to think of putting my child in day care (and paying the big bucks for it too!!) so i would really love to pull off working part time.
what about everyone else? i'd love to hear that i'm not crazy!! lol

Debi is kinda 'whatever' about having children right now. She expressed concern about having kids in this really uncertain time we're living in. Mary MOB

I was really nervous about having children. I had a lot of the same concerns you all have. However, I am currently 7 months preg. with twin boys and the only thing that makes me the most nervous now is the lack of sleep I am going to have!!

Re: SPINOFF to the 08 baby post....
Honestly I am pretty damn scared...I am 6 weeks pregnant and these past few weeks have been so mentally exhausting for me. I knew we were ready to start trying, financially I am not too sure how ready we are but we both didn't want to wait any longer since we are both 33 and just didn't know how long it would take us, but we will make it. I am really just completely terrified about being a good mother, will I do a good job raising my child, will I be able to make it through the delivery/labor, how will our relationship change as husband and wife, how will I balance being a mother, wife and working full time...you name it and I am thinking it. Don't get me wrong we are both sooooo excited about this baby but it makes you do a lot of thinking!!

Re: SPINOFF to the 08 baby post....
Well when I get pregnant my biggest concern will be the babies health.
Other than that, its providing everything the kids needs. Would like to have more money saved. Its the lifestyle change although I think when it happens, that lifestyle wont even matter anymore.
I would rather have a bit of a bad kid when they are young. I always see patterns of kids who are bad when they are very young but angels as teenagers, then the young kids who were angels as kids turn bad as teenagers lol. I was an angel as a kid but i did cause my parents some stress as a teenager, Dh was an angel but same thing although he was good most of his teenager years, when he turned 18-19 he caused a bit more problems, his brother was the bad kid and didnt really cause problems when he got older. Same with my cousins, one was bad as a kid OMG was she bad and she became an angel as she got older and then it was vice versa with the other. I can go on about so many kids who were one way but were the opposite when they got older. I think i can handle a screaming kid better than having to deal with other issues when they get older such as sex, drugs, alcohol and just the rebellious nature of some teeangers. I think that scares me more

i am scared of almost every reason above! afraid of having an unhealthy kid, being a bad parent, etc.
i also hate that I will have to be a daycare mommy and do what dh calls the football pass & hand my child over to someone else to raise while I work during the day. DH and I were raised by full-time moms and its hard to know that we wont be able to do the same.

Def. finances and their health but what I am really scared about is losing my freedom really. Theres still soooo much I want to see and do out there that theres no way Im willing to have a kid anytime soon.

thats very true! forgot about freedom! I am still too selfish, and stuck on 'us' and 'me' to care for something else

What I am really scared of is when the child becomes a teenager and goes through that 'I hate my parents' phase!! I seriously don't know how I will handle that. I know all kids go through it, and some have tougher times than others, but really... that is what I think about when I think about having kids! Not saying that a newborn/toddler/younger child is a cakewalk... but the pre-teen and teen years are what really scare me.
I'm still too selfish, too.

Ohhh mannnn ...I've been freaking out so much lately about having kids. I worry about being pregnant...I keep thinking that I'll have a really rough pregnancy and I have nightmares of things going wrong. Plus I worry about our baby being born healthy. These are all crazy irrational fears that I think about wayyy tooooo often.
Money is a big issue right now since I'm not working. In a way, we'd like to get pg now, since I'm home...butthe money situation is tight.
Dh worries about the money too. At last week he told me he doesn't want to know when we are TTC. He doesn't want to worry and stress about it and he wants a baby sooo bad, but also worries about money.
We both want a baby soon, but know that we should wait a while. I have an interview on NYE...so if I get that..I think we'll start trying in like April or May. I'm excited but sooooo nervous. I need to not think about it so much.

Re: SPINOFF to the 08 baby post....
The pain and the labor..its been done billions of times and mothers have gone on to have more than one child! SO im not nervous about this.
We saved our money for years and lived with each other for 4 years even before we got married! It helps to never pay full price on ANYTHING! We make smart decisions with our money and always have!
Going on vacations! We can not wait to travel the world with our children. It may be more challenging but we dont care. Seeing children light up to the tiniest things makes us appreciate everything so much more in life.
I was never super worried about what the future holds for my kids. I have so much faith in God, that it gives me a sense of calm and trust.
Finishing college. I am 10 credits away from getting my associates. Ive been going part time for 4 years...because I never wanted to big student loans on my belt, I would rather have a house. I intend to go to college part time for another 4 years and pay my way through it, while my kids are growing. I feel like it would be a positive influence having them watch me do homework and study. Plus when my kids to off to school, I will be fresh out of college and look for a job!
Being a good mom. No one is perfect, but I believe motherly instincts come natural to me!
The only concern I ever had was allowing someone else to take care of my children. I want to be there for them every step of the way. DH agrees! Ive never heard someone say...'I wish I worked more' I always here them say ' I wish I stayed home with my kids more'
I will be a stay at home mom while going to college part time! I am very lucky and I cant wait to start this exciting chapter in my life.

Re: SPINOFF to the 08 baby post....
Just like Kristin I'm worried about the pain... lol. I've seen both a natural and C-section delivery in nursing school and both look extremely painful!
I'm worried about finances. I just started working full time this year and moved out of my parents house for the first time as well as paid for the wedding.
We still have some debt, like my car and I'd like to save money before we have children. We may stay in an apartment with our first but I'd at least like to have some money in the bank for when we are ready to buy.
My parents are local and I work nights so childcare won't be so much of an issue. Most of the time it will be DH or myself and my parents are always willing to help.
My biggest fear: How our relationship will change. I like things the way they are for the most part and I'm afraid things will change.

I'll be brutally honest - I don't want to get fat and have my body change :( ugh - I just cannot deal with that! Also when will I have time to go the gym and run after the babies are born??? Ok I also worry about throwing up every day but not too worried about childbirth.
And I worry about the health of the baby and raising a child - its so harrrrrd! I will miss our freedom too :( but I know its all worth it but I am just too selfish right now!

Ok good! I just like having control over my body and don't want hormones to take over and just worry about being pregnant - I don't think I will like it!!!!!!
