Spinoff to 'ValentiMes day'...other misunderstandings..

So you got me thinking of things that are misinterpreted or pronounced...i remember as a kid in Sunday school saying some prayer in which we stated 'forgive us our sins for we are HARDLY sorry for them'...until one day i finally rose my hand and asked ' why are we saying we are HARDLY sorry? Isn't that kind of like we are lying?'....to which my poor exhausted teacher responded...'it's HEARTILY!!!!!'...and i was like 'ooohhhhh...well that one makes sense!!'...i still laugh when i have to say that prayer...

Another funny one is from Tae Kwon Do....my Master is Korean and has a very thick accent....so we used to do this kick i thought was called a 'rowenowski'....i always though...hmm..that sounds kind of Polish if you ask me....well it's actually a ROUNDHOUSE kick...ooops!

Anyone else have anything funny to share??

Sorry not a Newlywedder but I had to post...

Formally instead of formerly

Supposably instead of supposedly

Irregardless instead of regardless

Nucular instead of nuclear...I had a teacher who said it wrong all year!!

Ax instead of ask...this ones burns my butt!!

I also get annoyed when people butcher Italian words like mozzarella, manicotti, etc...I spent 6 years learning Italian I don't even bother trying to correct people anymore.

Cathy insteady of Catherine
Earf instead of Earth
Smorning for Morning

My mom calls Tuesday Chooseday and Thursday has become Thirstay

I misunderstood my bedtime prayer Matthew, Mark Luke and John bless this bed that I lay on. I always thought it was Matthew, Mark look on John bless this bed.... I have a brother named John so I never knew why we pray for Matthew and Mark to look on John and not me.

Oh and my name is Catherine Ann-Margaret I always thought it was Catherine Aunt Margaret since I have an Aunt Margaret i asked my mom why she didn't call me Catherine Aunt Betty. It was at this moment my mom knew her life would be tough

thats soooooo cute Kath!!!

When I was a kid, im talkin like 5 years old... I thought the song 'Panama' by van halen was actually 'Animal' as in the muppets. I think I sang it that way till I was 47

My husband has the Archie Bunker way of pronouncing three. It becomes tree.
Thirty three is turdy tree.

My parents are German immigrants, so I grew up with mis-pronounciations all the time.

My pet peeves of American born people :
ax instead of ask
stood intead of stayed

Then there's that old Manfred Mann song :
Yeah he was blinded by the light, revved up like a deuce, runner in the night.

Everyone (including me) would sing:
Blinded by the light, wrapped up like a duche another rumor in the night.
huh ?

For all intensive purposes...

Common error-I did it too till DH corrected me and showed me when we looked it up. Its SUPPOSED to be...

'For all INTENT and PURPOSE' but its one of those that has been misprnounced and mispoken sooo many times that its almost an accepted error.

I never realized that I say 'breakfrast' instead of 'breakfast'. DH pointed it out because he thinks it's adorable. And I try very hard now to say it the right way but when I'm not concentrating it comes out wrong.

I never knew that.
I usually say for all intent purpose, omitting the and.

One of my co-workers says stood when she means stayed. She'll tell me I stood at my boyfriend's house last night.
I always want to ax her - didn't he offer you a chair ?
