Spooky Saturday 10/31 NWQOTD

Well I figured it's Halloween so why not have a question having to do w/ fears or scares...

Something you & DH have expereienced as a couple whether it was before marriage or after that scared both of you or you were really afraid of.

Ours would be - the fact that an ex-GF of DH's from 6 years ago (mind you they only dated 7 months too) had always emailed him or tried to make contact w/him to totally blast me & to make herself look like she was so wonderful & wanted a chance for reconciliation. We had not heard anything in about 2 years prior to us getting married so we thought she had finally 'cut the cord' and moved on,...well about 2 1/2 months of being engaged she looked him up on FB & sent 2 emails to which he never responded to. It was right at that time I had signed up w/LIW & posted our engagement announcement. She must have googled him & found the engagement announcement b/c 3 weeks later she contacts him through reunion.com (created a fake acct just to send 2 nasty messages & then deleted acct) - where she said she saw engagement announcement & how ugly I was & what I loser I must be to wait all that time for DH & how DH must really not be sure since he waited 5 years to propose to me & how she was threatening about showing up to the wedding. (Funny, even thought it's over I still gets the bad kind of 'chills' when Im writing about it.) Anyway we contacted an attorney and filed for an order of protection but they said that we have to tell her to stop emailing, calling, texting, etc - to CEASE ALL CONTACT from that point fwd & if she violated that, then we couold get OOP....(sigh) so we both - but me more - spent the rest of my planning time worrrying about what kind of crazy S&*t she might pull the day of the wedding.

Luckily, I had hired a DOC who helped calm me tremendously, I was able to find current pictures of her from her match.com acct & gave them to RH so #1 - she didnt try to attempt to get a job there, #2 didnt try to just sneak into the reception, also gave copies to DOC & church & also to a very good friend of mine who still wrestles at 39 and coaches wrestling as well - I tried to cover all my bases so I wouldnt have to give her a 2nd thought. But I have to be honest - I thought about her up until the very day of the wedding. When it came to the day of - I only gave one glance over my shoulder as I was walking up to the church - then I never thoght about her the rest of the day b/c I felt I had all the right ppl loking out for her & would remove her b4 I would even know she was there.
But it was scary - and I hate her for taking away some of my joy while planning - maybe that's all she was initially looking to do - but she was never a stable person to begin with,...so on such an important day in my life - I didnt want to take any chances.

I don't think we have ever had anything scary as a couple. When I was single and we were just friends my ex from here (who dumped me) IMd me and told me he was on campus, in PA. That scared me a lot, but DH was just my friend. Otherwise I would say the most scared I have ever been involving DH was when he was on a working rig.

I have had a lot of scary experiences on my own though.

Most notably the DC sniper in the fall of 2002. I was scared to go anywhere and always looking over my shoulder afraid. It was horrible. I flew home and begged my mom to let me stay. I almost dropped out of grad school.

Since no one really posted in here yesterday I'm doing this a day late!

DH and I luckily never went through anything *scary* together, just very stressful. He lost his job last year three times, so it was stressful trying to get money to pay rent, bills, and wedding expenses. And right now his dad has cancer, and I'm worried to see what DH will be like when he dies because they've had a very tumultuous relationship, but again it's not real fear, just stress and anxiety.

I'd say the worst we have going on is the crazy lady who lives upstairs, she walks around looking in people's windows at night and always looks at what you're carrying if she sees you outside. Very weird.

The scariest thing we went through as a couple was DH being diagnosed with Crohn's disease. When he first got sick they were not able to figure out what was wrong with him. He was SO ill. He couldnt get out of bed...couldnt eat, was totally dehydrated and lost about 30 pounds from his already thing frame. I was terrified. I didn't know what to do and I was so scared that he was not going to beok. Luckily, they found out what it was, he started treatment and has been doing great ever since (knock on wood!) It was really frightening though..I was so scared he wasnt going to be arlight!

That is very scary. I have any ex-bf whose niece I babysat for 5 years daily & she was diagnosed at 3 yrs old w/colitis. Wow. That's a tough thing to deal w/ as an adult - but as a very young child who doesnt understand why shes bleeding every time she goes to the bathroom(sry to be so descriptive) - but it was SOOOO hard just for me as her care-taker plus what it did to the family. It took 2 years of different medications & altering/changing doses to finally get her 'regulated' - those were 2 very tough years for her.
