Staying home

Staying home

Hi Ladies,
I'm new to this board.... I got married back in 08 but have not had a chance to play on the boards in quite some time. I recently became a new mom- had twins back in December. I'm sure many of you who have children are going through the same situation but I was hoping someone could share some advice..... I've been in the education field for 9 years and I love my job but now that I have children, I want to be home with them. I never thought I'd feel this way. I have always enjoyed working with my students and never imagined wanting to leave my position but I hate leaving my own kids and will do anything to work from home. We can't afford to live on one income... Does anyone have any ideas of how I can work from home? I'm open to anything. Thank you so much.

First off welcome back to the boards and congrats on the birth of your twins!!!!!!!!!! I am sure there are legit work from home companies but I don't know of any off hand...would you consider something like offering people help with childcare? Like while they are off at work and or running errands you could watch their kids...that way you can still spend time with your twins. Hth and if I ever hear of anything I will def let u know

Some people sell Avon/Mark and do pretty well, that's something you could look into as well ...

Yeah there are a lot of sales things you can do from home. . I think potentially also medical billing and such but that has a course.

Do you want to be home full time or would you consider part time out of the house?

I do think the tutoring thing would work. . or doing a day or two a week at something like Kaplan, or any educational company that offers trainings etc. . they often hire people for occassional work. .

I was going to say, there are TONS of companies like this is Avon isn't your ideal too. Look up the Direct Selling Association for a listing of companies. It's especially helpful if you're already very social and have a large network of friends and familes (which is why I'd never do well in this ), but there's definitely money to be made.

Definitely - a friend of mine in college did this and always had cash. I was very poor and very envious ... but at least I had nice lip gloss

ALSO something to consider are jewelry parties, tupperware parties and pleasure parties ... I know you can make a ton of cash doing those as well!

Thank you everyone so much for all of your replies. I'm in such a tough situation.... I love my job and I love being able to provide for my family but I hate leaving my twins. I feel like I'm missing out on everything. And I feel like all I do is pump all day and night in order to give them milk when I'm gone. I am going to look into all of your ideas. Again, thank you so much. I really appreciate everyone's advice.

if you look at www.higheredjobs.com, there are some higher education jobs that deal with online advising. you can work from home yet still keep fresh in the education field just in case you want to go back one day :).
