Re: Student Loans
I was very lucky that my parents paid for my undergrad and masters degrees. Best gift I was ever given!

Re: Student Loans
I'm done with mine, I paid as I went the interested and towards principle, then I just paid off the final nut after I graduated. Was pretty easy.

Re: Student Loans
I'm still in college and will have to deal with paying off my student loans when I graduate next year, but DH is in a TON of debt from student loans! We did the calculation a while ago and if he was to pay the minimum every month, he'd be paying until he was like 49 or something. So he's clearly paying more than the minimum...lol

Re: Student Loans
I have loans. I've paid off about 1/3 of them. They're all at a low interest rate though so I'm in no rush to pay them off.

I CANNOT agree with you more!!!! Sallie Mae is such a crime it's unbelievable...8.65% (something like that) interest!! who does that, that's robbery!! I feel like I keep paying and paying and it's not going anywhere!! I hate this topic so I'm gonna stop now!

I am going to be paying for undergrad for what it seems like forever!!! At least the interest is only 3.5%..I consolidated at a good time. My masters is fully paid.

And you know what errks me to no end? I started off at Binghamton, hated being away & came home mid 1st semester. Transferred to St Joes for the spring semester & based on my HS scores I was a prime candidate for a full scholarship & St Joes even told me that...Butttt because I had attended college courses already (although i never ever graded for the classes because i never finished them), I was no longer eligible for it! Talk about BS....

Re: Student Loans
i had 1/2 a scholarship, but tuition was still very expensive and i am still paying for mine
DH went to a CUNY school which wasn't too expensive and he was lucky enough to have his parents pay for it

Re: Student Loans
This is a very touchy subject for me ... suffice it to say that yes, I have loans and I am paying them off by myself ... no one paid for any part of my college education but me.

Re: Student Loans
We have over $100k in student loans . Both DH and I recieved full rides to grad school, but DH has some big health problems and had to pay for more comprehensive insurances out of pocket. I want to vomit everytime I think about it!
