Sugar subsitute that tastes GOOD?

Sugar subsitute that tastes GOOD?

I am trying to put less sugar in my tea. I want to drink more tea because 1) it's good for you and 2) it keeps me warm in winter, but if I have more than the one cup a day currently, I am upping my sugar intake DRASTICALLY. I put 5-6 packets of sugar in one mug of tea. At home, I probably put more since I don't have the packets to measure it.

I have tried splenda, and while some people think it tastes 'like real sugar,' I think those people are nuts. It tastes like sweet and low to me. I can't stand saccarine and I can taste that weird sweet taste in there. S&L is gross too. Equal I want to give another shot - haven't had it in a long time.

Does anyone know if that 'sugar in the raw' is more flavorful than real sugar? As in, can I get away with using less of that if I switched? I tried honey, and I don't like the taste. I heard 'raw honey' tastes different?

I have weaned myself off sugar a bit - I definitely put less in my tea than I did a year ago, and certainly less than 5 years ago - and I am not a 'sugar freak' - I don't really eat candy, cookies, dessert, ice cream, etc, only on special occasions.

THANKS!

I use stevia- its a ground up root or herb (i forget) that tastes sugary but doesnt have the same effect on your body or sugar levels. I get it at the vitamin shop

try honey.. it goes really well with tea..

i use honey for cookies and cakes as well - its sweet and it doesn't have the cringing taste of splenda.. and if it calls for more sugar, i use molasses.. makes it most and adds sweetness as well.. hth

i dont remember and I dont have the box near me- but I think it either has zero calories per packet or 5- i used to use splenda and its much better than that- it will probably take a little getting used to- but i like it- and in hot things you cant really tell

my grandmother also bakes with it since my uncle is diabetic and its good

I was going to say Stevia too. I read about it in a book...a nutrutionist/doctor highly recommends it. It is natural. I absolutely will not use any of those artificial sweeteners....I don't even like the taste/after taste of them. In general, I prefer Sugar in the Raw, but if I'm trying to cut down on the sugar, the Stevia I don't mind as much. You can get it in Trader Joes. This time I got packets, so it's easier to carry them with me if I want. I keep some at work too. I also like the raw honey.

There is a sugar substitue that has less whatever it is like splenda and equal, but tastes more like real sugar and has more of a similar consistency. it is called Sweet Simplicity. Its also all natural. they probably have it at places like whole foods.
