Originally DH & I were looking into going on a cruise this spring, but both our work schedules have been crazy, so we're going to go on vacation in the July instead.
Is it too hot to do a Caribbean cruise in July? I looked at some of the temperatures for the islands and it's about 90 degrees on average, urgh!
Or, we were thinking of driving up to New Hampshire and Maine, do some hiking and nature stuff, stay at some B&B's, it may be more romantic. We're really not beach people, but I don't want to be chilly either...has anyone been to Maine or NH in summer?

My family has been going to New Hampshire in July for years...we are huge outdoors people...love to hike, etc...it's beautiful up there at that time...nights are usually cool enough for no AC...we always go to the area around North Conway...my brother has been renting houses in a communty called Edelweiss...you can get a house on a lake for an incredible price...lots of great hiking trails in the area from beginner to experienced..and North Conway is a cute town with lots of little shops & restaurants...and they have tax free outlet shopping. i went on a cruise in July and yeah can get hott. I have to say in bermuda we were on the catamaran most of the time we were there so it was fine bc we had a great breeze so it was great. Turks and caicos was REAL REAL REAL HOTT, i mean if you laid on the beach for 5-10 mins your skin felt like it was on fire. I had to stay in the water the whole time at the beach bc i couldnt stay on the beach, you couldnt even walk on the sand bc it burned your feet. But after we went to margaritaville and it was fine there, there were tables with a shade and the bar too. Remember you are not at these places that long so wont be that bad and depends what you do at these places.
Or what about an alaskan cruise, Recently i had seen a deal for $800 to alaska.
Or what about Martha's vineyard, i had went there in the summer and rented a house for a week and the price for the house was great and had a nice time

I have never been to an island in the summer but there is a GORGEOUS B&B in Rhode Island called Castle Hill, it's on a peninsula and they have all different kinds of rooms, they have a few that are beach houses right on the water, very romantic and all around beautiful, also right by Thames Street so there is a lot to do. It's pricey, but totally worth it. I think the website is www.castlehillinn.com? Or google Castle Hill...good luck!

I went Maine in August many, many years ago and we camped. It was chilly at night but nice during the day for us to hike, be outdoors, etc.
Bar Harbor is amazing!
I love Acadia Park - so beautiful.

We went to cape cod two summers ago for a week. We stayed at this cute place the Windjammer - not very fancy, but right on the beach. We took day trips to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. It was really beautiful.
My sister has gone on a carribean cruise every August for the past few years and loves it.
I think they do New England Cruises then too.

the bar harbour inn is beautiful, and right on the water... expensive though. there are a bunch of B&Bs there as well, you can't really go wrong. I stayed at a B&B (can't remember) once, and the BH inn the second time b/c i was in love with the look of it. And definitely go to acadia - we biked and hiked up cadillac mountain. I love bar harbour.

agreed Newport is beautiful in the summer. I live ten mins from there. Castle Hill is gorgeous. So is The Oceancliff and the Viking. We go to Castle Hill every Sunday in the summer for drinks on the lawn with our friends Here's a pic from last summer.
