We are hosting our 1st ever superbowl party & I was just wondering when you go to a superbowl party, do you expect a meal or just appetizers?
I think that I should make or order dinner and have snacks, dh thinks that most people will have eaten- but since the game starts around dinner time, I am not so sure.
any thoughts?

Re: Superbowl Party Question
i've had a few SB parties and we usually do a hero and wings and dips and chips and things of that nature. Not full out meals or anything

Re: Superbowl Party Question
Usually i think of heavy foods lol. You can do appetizers but the more heavy ones such as potato skins, buffalo wings, mozzarella sticks and that sort of stuff. Or maybe also throw in a hero for everybody

the hero is a good idea. i was thinking of making a pot of chilli- maybe I will do that with some appetizers.

chilli sounds good too. I think a few key things would be fine and you dont have to go crazy. Like if you get buffalo wings for example, a 6ft hero and lets say you do the chilli or do something like potato skins, then that should be fine. Maybe a few bags of chips and dips and youre good

Re: Superbowl Party Question
For the SB parties we've had, I usually do wings, meatballs, chili dip, pigs n' blankets and maybe some of those mini quiches or other appetizer-stuff like that. I don't think people expect much more than that...
It's all about the finger foods!

Re: Superbowl Party Question
I think most ppl don't expect a full meal...but we're doing: chili, wings, taco dip, pigs in a blanket, chips & dip...maybe some other apps I make. Last time I got a hero and soo much of it was left over it was ridiculous!

Re: Superbowl Party Question
DH has had a superbowl party for YEARS. He always buys the beers and chips and then everyone chips in for pizzas. That is how it is all the time. This year, I am making a mexican dip and cupcakes. That is usually how it goes though.
If people aren't hungry, they don't put in for food, if they are, they do and you order. :) Just makes it easier.

Re: Superbowl Party Question
I think the easiest think would be if you order a hero and then make a few appetizers.

Re: Superbowl Party Question
thanks girls- am going with chili, rice & beans, and then some finger foods- mini quiches, pigs in a blanket, and spinach dip & chips.
I figure at least with the chili if there is a ton leftover, I can freeze it for dh and I. thanks!

Chili is always a hit. put that out with some sides (shredded cheese, sour cream, onions) and you'll have some happy men

Re: Superbowl Party Question
I think appetizers If you want a quick, easy good chili recipe 1. Prepare and freeze To one portion of Make-Ahead Ground Beef, add: 1 can (16 oz) chili beans in sauce, undrained 1 can (14.5 oz) petite diced tomatoes, undrained 1½ cups water 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste 1 pkt (1.48 oz) chili seasoning mix Combine in large resealable plastic bag. Freeze for up to three months. 2. Defrost Microwave packet on DEFROST (30% power) 8-10 minutes or until softened. Pour into (10-in.) Skillet and bring to a simmer over medium heat. (If cooking immediately, combine ingredients in (10-in.) Skillet and bring to a simmer over medium heat.) 3. Finish and serve! • Spoon chili into bowls. • Top with shredded cheddar cheese, sliced green onions or sour cream, if desired.
