I want to suprise DH with a 30th bday party. Origionally I wanted to do a wine tasting party but It seems that the general cost for that is 100 PP. Any other ideas either for a cheaper wine tasting party or a different kind of party. I wanted to do something different then just a party but I cant think of anything creative. Please dont quote Im taking this down later just in case he sees!

How many people would you be entertaining?
How about doing a wine & cheese party at your home? It wouldn't be much work. Just buy wine, cheese, fruit, and crackers. You can talk to a cheese guy at Whole Foods (they know everything) or the wine person at your liquor store to see what goes with what. Maybe have little tables with wines & cheeses from different countries at each table (like an 'around the world' but for grown-ups). Like have a good French wine with some brie, a nice Italian wine with some provolone, etc...?

I've never done this, but maybe you can look into having a wine tasting party at your place. I got the link from someone on this board, but never got a chance to look into it. Seems fun.
what about going to a brewery and doing a tour and tasting there?
Brooklyn Brewery has tours that we've been on and are fun!

It won't be $100pp.. I went to the wineries wtih 20 people.. You pay as you go. Set the day and do 5-6 wineries--about $3-$6 each tasting plus the cost of the limo.

REALLY???? What limo company did you use. I looked at all these tours with the big buses and the ride and tasting was 100-150 pp. Did you use a regular limo company or a company that does tours of wineries?

I suggest if you are taking a limo/bus to the wineries, make reservations at the vineyard before you go. We took a limo last summer, there was about 15 of us and most places would not let us in because we were a big group with no reservation. I was shocked. A few places actually ran out into the parking lot and told the limo driver to not even bother parking because they wouldn't let us in. I couldn't believe they were turning down business like that. Definitely make reservations.

try Hampton Jitney. I think they do day trips to the North Fork.
