Original post by SFAR89

I am just curious, if you eat sushi, where your favorite restaurant is.

I liked sushi, but was never a huge fan b/c I never found any places that made really good sushi. UNTIL, I found AJI53 in Bayshore.
Has anyone else been there???

There is also a really great place in the Atlas Mall in Glendale, Queens called 'Shiro'.

Also Yumi Yumi (SP?) in Long Beach on Park Avenue, has all you acn eat sushi!! So goooddd.

When I got back from the HM I Was craving it like a FIEND. I ordered like 6 rolls just for myself lol I got home and DH was like 'Damn Sara...calm down' lol :(

where can I get sushi in queens for like a bday party and for how much? I am having 40 ppl...how much should I order and how much will it cost me? I'm sorry I have never tried sushi, but my DH loves it.

You can try Sakura on Myrtle in Glendale. I know there is another place on Metro by the subway, I don't know the cross street, but they may also do parties.

I would do about 1 roll per 2 people. Does everyone invited like sushi??? I know alot of places do party packs. I think the last place I saw that did a party pack was Sakura. I think it was about $40 for 35 pieces or something like that, I could be wrong, but check them out. :)

My favorite place on LI is Kotobuki - A-M-A-Z-I-N-G

I like that place but it is not my favorite. I have some here that you will have to try Jenna. Just to mention a few ON LI - The city is a whole nother animal

Show Win - Northport

Nissen - Syosset

Toku - Miracle Mile

I am adding these to my list -- I didn't list the city either -- you are right that is another animal!

My fave is Sushi Bakery in Ronkonkoma. They are cheap and very good. I'm picky with my sushi bc I don't eat raw, so the shellfish has to be amazing for me.
When we want to go to a nicer place we go to Kotobuki.

Osaka in Lynbrook and a place on Austin Street in Forest Hills. I'm drawing a blank on the name but it's part of the two level store fronts and is on the lower level

If you are ever in the city -
Yama has the best sushi ever - better than Nobu - there are 2 locations, one on Irving Place, and one on Houston.

In Park Slope, Jpan on 5th avenue has the most original rolls and really fresh sushi.

is it expensive ???

Yama is on the pricier side, but still reasonable for sushi. Their pieces are huge, so one piece is like two.

Jpan is very average priced.

I found that when we were running around doing wedding stuff in LI, the LI sushi places were more $ than the places we go to in the city and brooklyn.

Taiko in Rockville Centre
Osaka in Lynbrook

Taiko is a nice place with great food and service. my friend owns it.

Osaka is not as nice looking but its good 'home style' sushi place. comfortable casual eating...and you MUST try the fried ice cream

DH loves it so sometimes i'll go, and ill have it but i would almost always prefer something else lol, but they have good stuff and alot of sushi lovers i know say how good it is

I love that name, Yumi Yumi. One of my friends used to always get delivery and the doorbell would ring--'it's the yumi yumi man!'
