Tahiti or Thailand?

Hi. My FH and I were all set to book Tahiti when we started hearing great things about Thailand and how cheap it is. Is this worth looking into? Can anyone give me more information on Thailand

Re: Tahiti or Thailand?

We looked into going to Phuket for our honeymoon - I don't know about cheap...It was just as much as Tahiti. We decided not to go because of the flying time. Friends of ours went and they loved it!

Re: Tahiti or Thailand?

One of my future plans is to go to Thailand, so I'm biased. Tahiti has too many creepy crawlers for my taste.
I have heard Thailand is very inexpensive yet it is a wonderful, beautiful cultural experience. So it depends on what you're looking for.

Re: Tahiti or Thailand?

we just came back from a 10-day cruise through the south pacific (tahiti, bora bora, moorea and a few other islands) and it was AMAZING!!!!!!

if price is a factor, you should consider cruising!!!

Re: Tahiti or Thailand?

I went to Thailand on vacation about 5-6 years ago and I went to Tahiti for my honeymoon.

Thailand will definitely be a better deal because of the exchange rate. There will be a lot to explore in terms of sites and culture. I would think this would be more of an adventurous trip where there will be a lot to see and do depending on where in Thailand you go. You can have the beach vacation too and Thailand does have some beautiful beaches. There the waters are emerald green. There will be cultural differences that you will experience which you don't really experience in Tahiti.

Go to Tahiti if you want to relax, do watersports and see beautiful waters/islands and be pampered. There's no night life here other than going to town to have dinner. Good for couple time. I would have to say that the islands of Tahiti are the most amazing and beautiful that me and my husband have seen and between the two of us we've traveled extensively. Staying in over water bungalows was unique and a must-do if you go. Food was OK.

You need to decide what kind of experience you'd like to get and what you like to do on your honeymoon because the two places are different.

Edited to add: I visited Bangkok where there were amazing temples and historic sites to visit, but the city is so hectic and traffic was worse than in NYC. Then I traveled to Koh Samui a small island on the opposite side of Phuket which was beautiful and not as commercialized as Phuket. In terms of travel time I don't think it is a significant difference from traveling to Tahiti. If you can you should fly on Singapore Airlines over Europe, the service is amazing even in coach.
