Taken from Z100 - card or no card?

Original post by RisiLeigh

Z100 was talking about this this morning and I was curious how you girls felt. Some were saying that if you get a really expensive gift from your spouse, than a card isnt important at all.

I TOTALLY disagree! I am obsessed with cards! I have every single card that DH has given me since we started dating. He knows he MUST give me a card for every occasion And, ideally, he will write something additional in the card, not just, 'Dear Marisa, Love DH' you know? And I am especially excited this year b/c it'll be the first WIFE card!

What do you girls think?

I love cards and have kept all the cards DH gave me. I know some ppl get upset if you give them no card, even though i love them if dh forgot one i wouldnt get mad.

Back to the topic... I actually bought him his card a while ago b/c it is our first Husband/Wife Valentine, so i could not wait to but him a 'To my husband on Valentines day' card!

me too. I was soo excited to buy him his first Husband card. I got it a couple weeks ago, and i think it's adorable. I'm sooo excited to receive my first WIFE card too. I sure hope he gets me one. I dunno, he's never given me a card before. He's written me really sweet letters in the past, but I don't seem to remember an actual CARD. Hmm.

I am a card wh0re. I will buy 3 different cards i like for my mom on Mother's Day and write something in each haha. I usually buy a funny card and a serious card. I know I am stupid.

but I LOVE cards!!! DH isn't but he realized quickly and I have saved every card he has ever given me for the 4 yrs we have been together. He even found time to send me cards just because when he was in Iraq.

I am also the person who writes a novel in a card

I don't really care about a card. I saved some of the ones from our important anniversaries and our 'first' valentines day and so forth. Other than that I don't care much about a card lol He got off really easy marrying me, I am too laid back.

lol me too! I have a few cards saved from the early years of our relationship but in general I'm not a big card person.

I think it depends on the wife... if a DH knows his wife is the sentimental type who loves to read and keep cards, he should def get her one... if he knows she's not really into it, or she reads it says awww then chucks it to the side and never looks at it again, then he can forgo it.

The card is more important than the gift to me!

i don't like cards UNLESS the giver actually writes something in it. I hate it when people just sign it. What's the good of that? You might as well have just texted me your name and saved the $2.28.

But when i receive a card (esp from DH) that actually has something nice written in it, I'm just sooo touched by that and appreciate it more than he could believe. I don't expect crazy MUSHY stuff, but at least something somewhat heartfelt, ya know?

I agree! I hate when I get a card and it just says from so and so.... i know people don't have time and stuff but still... it means alot to me when I know someone actually took the time to write me a little note.
