Z100 was talking about this this morning and I was curious how you girls felt. Some were saying that if you get a really expensive gift from your spouse, than a card isnt important at all.
I TOTALLY disagree! I am obsessed with cards! I have every single card that DH has given me since we started dating. He knows he MUST give me a card for every occasion And, ideally, he will write something additional in the card, not just, 'Dear Marisa, Love DH' you know? And I am especially excited this year b/c it'll be the first WIFE card!
What do you girls think?

Re: Taken from Z100 - card or no card?
I like a card. I save the ones that are important. Some I keep for a few years and weed out.
But I like a card. Especially if it is hand made.

I don't really care about a card. I saved some of the ones from our important anniversaries and our 'first' valentines day and so forth. Other than that I don't care much about a card lol He got off really easy marrying me, I am too laid back.

DH is not a huge card person... for the 5 years we have been together he has MAYBE gotten me 3 cards... one time he got me a card and forgot to fill it out lol
i havent really saved them... except for the one he wrote me the morning of our wedding... thats about it

I love cards too...Dh knows loves to get funny cards so he always gets me one serious card and one funny card. I save most of them, especially my first 'wife' card, I could hardly wait to get one of those.

Cards are important to me. I have saved every card also. I told DH you better get me my first Wife Valentined Day card!! LOL. He always writes the sweetest things in them. Last year he made me a card. It was adorable. It said to 'our last Valentines Day' on the front. Inside it said ' being Single' I cant wait to I make you my wife. I appreciate the little things instead of the big things. This year We arent doing gifts. Just cards and Going nto dinner...

I think the card is the best part! I have kept all of the cards DH has given me over the 11 years we've been together.

Aww, that's cute. DH wrote on our last anniversary card before the wedding that he was so happy to be celebrating ten years but was so excited to 'reset the counter.' It was so sweet.

Re: Taken from Z100 - card or no card?
i think the card and the sentiment is more important than any gift
DH wouldnt agree, he doesnt even read cards, opens them up and shakes them down for cash then toss' them aside (pisses me off when I spend time writing nice things )

I love getting cards..... Funny thing is DH just found this luggage he had FULL of cards i have given him through out the years! It was so cool him taking them out and reading through some of them. I can not wait to find my big bag of cards now too!!!!
Back to the topic... I actually bought him his card a while ago b/c it is our first Husband/Wife Valentine, so i could not wait to but him a 'To my husband on Valentines day' card!

Re: Taken from Z100 - card or no card?
i don't like cards UNLESS the giver actually writes something in it. I hate it when people just sign it. What's the good of that? You might as well have just texted me your name and saved the $2.28.
But when i receive a card (esp from DH) that actually has something nice written in it, I'm just sooo touched by that and appreciate it more than he could believe. I don't expect crazy MUSHY stuff, but at least something somewhat heartfelt, ya know?

I love cards and always think they are necessary especially from my Husband. I feel like it is so personal to pick out a card and fill it out, it means a lot to me.
