Taryn/Stacey lacey I need your help!(makeup related. Anyone can answer)
Ok so im looking at the smokey eye and just not loving it. as some pointed out, the gray is silvery looking in pics though in person it was reaaallllly dark.
My complexion is very golden; if I add just the barest touch of bronzer, I look like I have been sunning in the Caribbean for a week because of my undertones. People are always asiking 'where i have been.' UM..doing laundry?
Anyway, I was thinking maybe blacks are too harsh for my coloring. So what if I didn't use blacks and grays to smoke it out? What if i went for brown shades like did a light taupey broze color for the highlight and a darker woody brown for the lid and then just dark brown liner and of course black mascara? Or I could intensify my usual Mauvey purple colors and add the black liner?
Do you think that could still achieve a 'smokey eyed' effect?

jen in all honesty u can get a smokey look with ANY tones u want...there's no rule that says it HAS to be black or gray. If u're not diggin' the charchole-y look, then I'd go for either deep bronzy tones, or even plums! deep greens look hot too... If u have a bare escentuals any where near you, they actually just got in a brand new 'foiled eye' kit & the colors are absolutely FABULOUS. They're shimmery(not sure if u'd like that?)...but they pretty much have EVERY undertone in them...copper/bronze/silver...it really is beautiful...and it's great 'cause u can get a suttle look just by lightly dusting the colors on, or BAM, really dramatic just by packing on the color or applying it wet. Also, i really think plums or deep taupes/mauves would look fab. u have time, so just play around! I do think u can get the look u want with the charchole-y colors u've been playing with...just try not to go so matted & light on top...maybe even play around with a gold(if u're up for funky) or even a silvery color to really make 'em pop. I hope this is helping and not just throwing out a million ideas! i'm gonna try to find some pics...

Lol pics work better! You know me trying to visualize.
I did try the bare essentuals but it didnt work so well for me. i was excited cause it was a enat package. I am thinking plum colors because thats what i use normally and I like it. i was trying to do the charcoals following a tutortial cause the girl looked great-so subtle sexy but she was VERY fair and Im not so i think I need bronze or plum-something warmer.

Thanks taryn-You're the makeup artist-do you know any colors off hand in that family? I hate having to buy stuff at Sephora and return it-makes me feel bad lol. And in the pharmacies you can't try it on.

hmm...well i dont know NAMES of other brands off hand... but by BE, 'Shantung' in the crease & outer lid, with 'Bahamas' as an inner lid accent & combined with 'cultured pearl' as a brow highlight are absolutely GORGOUS....especially for ur skintone... bordeux is more PURPPLE-y side but is nice too.....hope this helps....

You rock. You're so getting extra hugs in April! Ill thank you! I have to try it then show you guys this weekend when i post pics. If these colros dont work maybe I can intensify what I wear everyday? like add ebony to it in the V crease so it darkens it alittle but keeps the plum?

hopefully u'll like them! i really think u'll like the colors :) go for the shantung & bahamas first...and remember that the be colors are buildable - so u can make them as bold or as soft as u want! and yes - if anything just glam up what ur used too and what u already like!
also, try velvet for a blush if u need one! it'll be gorgous on u! joyous jennifer is nice too(a little more neutral/shimmery but people tend to like it!) good luck! let me know how it all turns out!

u definetly do NOT want to use the blushes wet! that is a big no-no! lol. velvet is a deep rich color(almost looks deep reddish) but it's applied BEAUTIFULLY on tan skin. i really like it. anyways, i hope everything works out! also, a more natural looking taupe color(and more matted) is silk rose(for the crease)....much more natural but it's nice! anyways, yea these are all BE colors...i hope it all helps! good luck!

ps: i still think the plum-y colors(shantuuuungg!!!) are gonna look fabulous, but u also might wanna try dark blues....something saphire-y that'll give u the smokey eye but still have bright undertones & pop u know??? just something to play with!

btw - i noticed u said u tried out 'beauty'...i recommended velvet which i think will be GORGOUS on u - but if u like more of a pink tone, try fuit cocktail. It literally looks HOT PINK in the pot, so dont get scared lol - but it actually looks really pretty on tan skin.

Its ok Stacey-Busy is good Ok so I think I nailed this eye look FINALLY! I have to post pics in a sep thread but you girls didn't tell me I would have to channel my inner drag queen for this!!
I staretd out a little heavier than I would for a night out and the flash kept washing me out. Then i remembered my wedding day makeup artist telling me you need to cake it on thicker than normal for photoshoots because of the flash so I tried again. Third time was finally the charm. I looked liek SUCH A ***** LMFAO in person. BUT on camera I think it finally looks great. I went with browns. Went to Sephora to the girl who recommended my nude lip color (LOVE her!) and she did my eyes for me. But she did say it was too light an application for film. SO I made it heeavier gradually. Iw ish you guys could have seen em in person! LMAO.
This will definetly be the 'end look' for my shoot. I will start off with an almost nude eye with just cat eye liner and pinker lip.
