Teachers: Did you ever accept a position and then a better one comes along?

Teachers: Did you ever accept a position and then a better one comes along?

It looks like I may have landed a position in a school not far from me, but not very close.

The school wants to hire me, but they are waiting til Monday to make it official becaue a teacher hasn't given her official notice of leaving.

Another school called and it is much closer and in a better area.

I think i am going to go on the interview anyway just to see. but what do I do if I like it and they like me?

I would hate to screw over a school. Also, a friend hooked me up with the first school. I don't want her to be mad at me either.

Why is it when you have a job another one comes along?

Has anyone ever been through this?

Thanks

I would just go on the interview...as long as you have not signed a contract with the other district yet. (If you have, then you need to be honest with them.) I'm sure that you were not the only one they interviewed. If you take the other position, I'm sure they will have someone else to fall back on. You have to be selfish when it comes to looking for a job. This is your career. You can't worry about who you 'screw over' in the process...especially when you don't know them. Just make sure you are careful not to lose BOTH positions. That happened to my friend b/c she wasn't honest with both employers.

Perfectly put! I can relate to how you are feeling. But you have to remember..in life you are out for whats in the best interest for you...not anyone else. You are not going to screw anyone...Im sure they will have someone else to give the position to if you dont accept. Dont on the other interview and then see what happens...best of luck!
