My mom makes Italian Wedding Soup. I usually eat Chicken Cutlets because I don't like Turkey.
Oh and for dessert, my absolute favorite.... chocolate pudding pie with cool whip on top

I definitely eat alot of non-traditional things. WE have turkey of course, but even the stuffing isnt traditional lol, and i prefer the stuffing my mom makes. She made it for something else a long time ago and i love it so much that she makes it for thanksgiving. Sounds weird but its this groundmeat with mushroom thing. Then she also makes these lemon potatoes or sometimes mashed potatoes which is traditional. I love when she does this zucchini, spinach sauteed thing. Also we have alot of other meat lol, its tradition to eat meat but for me its just too much lol, i usually eat just the turkey.

I think Turkey is the only thing that my side of the family eats that is traditional we also have: Arroz con Guandules Lasagna Pernil/Lechon Empanadas Potatoe Salad
Basically the typical Latino meal plus the Turkey lol

lol sounds like my house. When dh first ate at my house for the holidays he was like 'so the basic concept is just meat after meat after meat' which yeah basically. My mom many times makes steak too, or pork chops.
Oh i forgot, my mom also makes cabbage with bacon and ribs in it. Dh loves it. I can eat some of it but its heavy. You cook the cabbage on the stove for a long time, she also adds some sauce to it, then you bake it for a while with the bacon and ribs.

Yes I have to tell you the truth . . . until we starting bringing 'dates' to holidays and learning more about American traditions we did not really have any sides for any holiday! LOL
It was pasta as a first course. and then 4 or 5 types of meat and then that was it LOL maybe a vegetable or two but nothing like potatoes or anything like that!

My family is from the south so someone always makes chitterlings (rectum of a pig) it sounds pretty distgusting, but when it is made correctly is pretty yummy.

I think the reason my mom made more typical side dishes bc i used to tell her to when i was younger. But i understand all about eating things that are very different than those who eat the traditional thanksgiving dinner.
Even for x-mas, most eat ham which thank god my mom doesn't make bc i dont like it lol. I look forward to x-mas dinner bc my mom makes stuffed cabbage which I LOOOVE, plus hazelnut bread, and theres also this chicken salad thing we make every year. Its chicken, carrots, potatoes, pickles, red peppers, hmmm alot more stuff that i cant remember and LOTS of mayo and some mustard. At first dh was like ok denise its chicken salad whats the big deal. Now he gets excited for it bc its so good.
I also LOOOVE that at his families house we have seafood pasta, ahhhh theres nothing better than seafood and pasta lol

if you really want to try them I know you can buy them premade and already seasoned. I cant remember the brand, but it comes in a big plastic tub like the breyers ice cream tub, u just have to warm them and eat them.
