My family is from the south so someone always makes chitterlings (rectum of a pig) it sounds pretty distgusting, but when it is made correctly is pretty yummy.
I have always wanted to try that! Please send some by me.
And don't worry my family eats some pretty nasty stuff. We eat every part of the turkey, lamb's head on Easter and tripe ( cow stomach ) LOL
lol!
if you really want to try them I know you can buy them premade and already seasoned. I cant remember the brand, but it comes in a big plastic tub like the breyers ice cream tub, u just have to warm them and eat them.
+
I will have to look into that - i love trying new stuff! thanks.
I looked them up and they make them in italy, i will have to ask my mom if i ever ate them but didnt realize what they were ( my family does that to me a lot - i thought tripe was fish until i was in HS )
my grandmother tricked me into eating BRAIN once - she told me it was chicken cutlet until i bit into it and it went SQUUSH and i gagged and started choking

My uncle makes a Prime Rib because he doesn't like turkey. Lumpia (which are filipino eggrolls)

ive eaten brain too lol. It was sweetbread style and i also just thought it was chicken cutlet, the type you make with flour and eggs instead of breadcrumbs, and i have to say it looks just like it. Another time my dad made this stew with cow brains, heart, kidney, liver but it was made in this sauce and everything was cut up into small pieces. I ate it not knowing what it was and surprisingly was so good lol. So i tricked my friend too and said 'hey want to try this its so good' she ate it and was like wow good stew and then i told her lol. Luckily she is very open to things so wasnt bad

we have ham on easter. EXACT same way.
back in the day we always had a pasta dish on thanksgiving - lasagna, ziti, ravioli.... then my sister took it over and decided she wanted to be all traditional american thanksgiving and crap
i dont like most of the traditional thanksgiving food except the stuffing. she makes it with sausage it's yummy. as long as there is no fruit or raisins in it.

We always had the ham that way on New Year's Eve after Spaghetti with olive oil, black olives & pignoli nuts...ooh, I forgot how to spell olive oil in Italian. We've been having a spiral ham now which I like.
On Thanksgiving, we've always started with antipasti; lasagna, manicotti, stuffed shells or ravioli; and then turkey and all the sides (stuffing, sweet potatoes, stuffed mushrooms, stuffed artichokes...)...and then don't forget dessert. My DH always says no matter how full he is, he always has room for dessert...there's a whole separate space for that.

that's not untraditional that italian. We used to do it that way but over the years things have slowly become more and more traditional for us.
We start with a pasta course, the fruit and nuts are in there somewhere too. On thanksgiving and christmas.

That's right, how could I forget fruit and nuts...usually before coffee and desserts!
