Thank you question

Thank you question

We are going to be short about 5 thank you pictures. About 7 of the gifts we received were from people who did not attend the wedding, but did send a gift. Is it o.k. to buy a pack of thank yous and send them to the people who did not attend or is a picture required with the thank you? Any suggestions would be great!!

Re: Thank you question

I would say yes - if they are people who won't really find out you sent them to others.

I have attended several weddings where the bride and groom sent regular thank you's with no pictures. I was always disappointed but they were always people DH and I were close to. I guess they just cut that expense.

Re: Thank you question

I made sure everyone who was invited to the wedding got a thank-you with a picture. I don't think it's necessary but I do think it's a nice touch. People like those at my job, who weren't invited but gave us a gift didn't get a thank-you with a picture.

What about using monogrammed informal notes to use for your thank you? You could probably get them in a stationery store. I think they are more personal then a generic thank you.

Christine that's a great idea. We could order a lot of those and then have them for later. Those are always good to have around!

if they didn't come to the wedding. then you do not have to send them a picture, if you do ont have it. But I think personalized stationary is a nice idea for them.

I always enjoy getting a photo...I have almost every wedding TY I have received on my refrigerator...

Could you scan one of your proofs...and print out a few to send?

This is funny to me -- I don't think TY pictures are at all required. In fact, I've never received one. I didn't have them for my own wedding, but it wasn't because of cost. So, I'd say don't worry at all about a few guests not getting one!

What I would say is you can send regular TY's to those that sent gifts but did not attend, but you could make copies of the pix really affordably and send it to them in those TYC. Try shutterfly or Ofoto I have used both for printing photos and the quality was great.

I am not going to have enough pictures either.. I only got 75 pictures but have 100 thank you notes written. Some people who came (like parents friends) are not going to get a picture... I'm sure they wouldn't keep it anyway!

We got monogrammed note cards that matched our invites.... was $125 for 200 of them and we can always use them later.

I actually was going to post this question....

My wedding was on 12-21. We still haven't done the thank you's. Is this bad??? What's the timeframe to send them out?

Re: Thank you question

I think 3 months or so is right. I got married 1/31 and they haven't gone out yet- I called in the thank you picture to my photographer and I should have them by next week- I already wrote all of them because I didn't use the photographer supplied cards.

Re: Thank you question

Irene - I hope not. We got married 12/15, and the ty pics won't be ready until Thursday. I started writing out the envelopes and the cards to get ahead a little, so I will only have to insert the pictures and mail.

Thanks to all for the help. I wish we had a scanner. The people who did not come will not get a pic.
