I got married in the fall of 2004 and found a box of unsent thank-you cards. I made christmas gifts for all of my bridesmaids, but did not give them until I saw them... in some cases several months later. Our bridal party got a 'group gift' for us and we did not send the bridal party thank yous. I sent out thank yous to everyone else, although we got some returned in the mail that did not get sent out.
I feel bad because I did not know the etiquette. I remember thinking January was too late, so I did not even attempt it and I have felt bad all of these years.
Some of our friends (mainly our guestbook attendants) don't talk to us anymore because of this and I would just like to know what I/we could do to appease the situation even though it is so much later. We have an anniversary coming up and I htought about writing a personal letter to each member of our wedding party as a way to thank them, but I don't know how to admit we were such a rude couple. We did have a lot going on -- we planned our wedding in 6 wks because I got pregnant and we were both in college -- but that is still no excuse.
What do you think? I still feel guilty and it has been nearly three years.
Thanks for your input!

Re: THANK YOUS
I would say its never too late... You can tell them exactly what you wrote here- you were young and things were crazy and you realize now that it was rude not to send a thank you... As for people who don't talk to you anymore because of this.. well, I think thats kind of crazy. I mean sure, you can be ticked you didn't get a ty but I don't think its a reason to stop to talking to someone!

Re: THANK YOUS
I think that for the people you want to have a relationship with or for those people with whom you still have a relationship who might be hurt that you should send them a heartfelt letter or just give them a call. For those people who no longer talk to you because of a thank you card, I would think twice about whether I wanted to bring them back into my life. Yes, it's rude to not send them, but I never think that people are not grateful just because I didn't get a thank you card or because it took a year. I mean who cares - did you give the gift because you wanted to give it or did you give it to get a thank you card? I give gifts out of love, not for gratitude and I believe they're appreciated - thank you card or not. It took me a long time to get mine done - I felt like they had to be personalized and handwritten and between working as much as I do and my carpal tunnel, it was really hard to get it all done and it took me a long time. My friends will understand why and I would too. A lot can happen to people and I think we should all give each other the benefit of the doubt now and then. So, if it were me, I might send letters to some and forget about the rest depending on the relationship and how much it mattered to me. But this seems to be really eating at you so maybe you should just send everyone a kind note now. I certainly don't think it'll hurt and then you can finally stop thinking about it after all these years.

Re: THANK YOUS
in 12/05 we went to a wedding and we got their thank you about a month ago.
I think that's the funnies thing I ever heard. If I were one of your guests that were in that box of thank you's never sent out- I probably would have been like- no thank you card- those people suckk but I would not stop talking to you. If you sent me a letter expaining to me how things were crazy and you included the origional TY card with it I would more than likely pee myself from laughing so hard and then call you up and appologize for saying you suckk even though you never heard me say it. That's classic and definitely one to tell the grandkids about

So what would you do?? I didn't mean to suck considering I wrote them and stamped them with .37 stamps in 2004. :-P
