I wrote the thank yous for my side of the family and DH and I wrote the ones together for our friends. I ahvn't written his side yet because I feel it would be much more personal comming fromeither him or both of us. And he says I should write them all but some of the people Im not even sure exactly who they are. He has a huge family. And his family was laughing at me saying grooms never write thank you's. But I disagree with that! Did any of your husbands help write thank you's? Am I in the wrong for refusing to write those ones by myself? I also am frustrated cus we have been married a month now and still havn't gotten them out! I know they say you have a year, btu I personlly do not like that. I think they should be out within a month of the wedding- or a couple weeks after the honeymoon.

Re: thank you's
My husband did not write any TYs, claiming that his handwriting is bad. it's more than bad, it is attrocious. I had a couple of different verses that I used depending upon the guest. I also hand wrote the addresses. His job was then to stuff, seal and stamp all the envelopes. It was fun watching him struggle with this. I didn't tell him that he could use a damp sponge to seal the envelopes, so instead he licked 94 envelopes.
Mean of me, but heck, I had to write all the TYs.

Re: thank you's
You're doing it right. you dont honestly have a year. thats a misconcpetion. They should traditionally be out 2 weeks after the honeymmon to a month witha grace period of 3 months but thats the old fashioned harddcore way before photocards.
As far as the writing though...I did them all. DH has 'boy' handwriting. I did ask his input as to names and what to say but i did the actual handwrittten portion. It was just easier and faster.

Re: thank you's
I wrote all of my Thank Yous but I think if you do not know most of DH's family, he should help you. I also wanted to get ours out soon after we got back from our HM. I had all of mine done in 2 and 1/2 months.

Re: thank you's
DH's handwriting is beautiful!!! Its def boys hand writing, but it is so nice looking!!!! LOL! I just wanted them all to be personal. And not all the same. And if I write his familes, I feel like it will all be the same thing. I took a lot of time writing the ones for our friends and family adn personalizing them, I feel his family deserves the same. I just need to get him seated and make him write them with me. its just hard!!! And I wanted them out this past Monday. I feel bad waiting so long! I know we went to a wedding one year that was in March like ours and didn't get the thank you till decemeber and by that time I just had figured they wern't doing them, or they had sent ours to his parents house and his mom forgot to show us. LOL.
Also, my cousins wedding was a year ago in august and we gave them cash and still havn't gotten a thank you. Im now wondering if they ever even got it....

Re: thank you's
DH helped a little. I wrote most of them, but saved a few important ones for him (his brothers and close family)

Re: thank you's
I sent my TYs out at the end of March, so 4 months after the wedding. We had so much going on with the holidays, getting sick, work, and with DH not helping me write, it put the burden all on me. From other weddings, I've usually gotten the TY at around the 3 to 5 month mark.
We have friends that married in March of 07 and they still have not sent out TYs. That's really bad.

I also feel like we need ours out sooner because we are not waiting for the pictures. Cus that will just take way too long. We figure we will send the pictures in our xmas cards. But I feel like it people get them after a month and a half they will think its weird they took so long and didn't get a picture.
ETA: I can't spell or type. LOL

I know DH won't help me write out the thank you's for the wedding but he's in charge of setting up the ennvelopes with the guest labels, return labels and stamps!

Re: thank you's
If it helps you decide, my SIL took a strong stand, similar to you, on this issue when she married my brother (great guy, with lousy handwriting).
Well, long story short, they're married 14 years and I'm still waiting for mine...

Re: thank you's
I had my husband Write out the Thank you's for his Best Men, his Parents, his Sisters family and the relatives that traveled from Canada. I thought he should have hand in this part of the Wedding process.
I did 130 Thank you's and he did 20.
and by the way....it took him many months to write them out. But i wasn't going to give in.

Re: thank you's
DH was actually great about this, he wrote them for his family and friends, and I did my family and friends so the process went really quickly and he was actually done way before me. i still have a few stragglers to send out

Re: thank you's
I just finished ours DH didn't do any of them normally I would make him help but he has been working around the house so much that he doesn't have time and they would of never got sent out! I did ask him about a few people from his family though. I actually just ended up putting a very generic message in the ones that I wasn't sure who they were

Re: thank you's
I went through the same thing with DH. I really wrote a majority of them. He only did the ones to his groomsmen and family. In fact, he may still have a few to write.

Re: thank you's
DH thinks my handwriting s*cks, sooo...
he wouldn't let me write any of the engagement thank-yous
he addressed all the envelopes for our wedding invitations
he wrote out the names on the escort cards...
and i'm thinking he probably won't let me write the wedding thank yous
i feel bad....but...i'll make it up to him somehow...

Re: thank you's
i've never recieved a thank you actually written by the groom, it's always written by the bride and then signed by both of them.
I don't think you're wrong for wanting him to do it though, but at the same time, i don't think many people will care if he doesn't do it.
