That Darn Question....

Original post by holly231

So, when are YOU going to give us more grandchildren?

So, when are YOU going to give our kids some cousins??

I WANT TO SCREAM!!

I am a pretty private person, and do not exactly like to discuss my sex life...especially with my In Laws...:

Let me be married for now...its not even a year yet...when the time comes, you will KNOW...

UGGGGGGGGGGGH

All I heard ALL weekend

When I came back from my HM my DH's grandma touched my belly (rubbed it actually)... Yeah, she's subtle!

That's cute

We get that too. We are still undecided which I think makes people worried because I will be *gasp* 32, so they think my clock is ticking....

But.... Try the great response:

Not any time soon but we are having a great time trying!!!!

That IS a great response!

I just turned 38 and if one more person tells me my clock is ticking I am going to clock them!! (No pun intended ) I have said, I know it is, I don't need to be reminded!!' which isn't very nice of me

I'm 37 and I don't really enjoy hearing it either....but I am finishing up grad school, so I guess that is a acceptable 'excuse'.

Anybody have any hints on ways to get pregnant? positions, vitamins, food, exercises, how to lay after sex etc? Any hints that worked for them?

DH is a big kid at heart and everyone knows it... When people ask when I'm having kids, I tell them I don't need kids because I just married one.

Usually people laugh and back off.

I spread the word early to my SIL's, MIL and close friends... I was almost 35 when we married, DH is 37, I have never been regular, my mom had problems conceiving me in her twenties so, you will all know when you know. Actually this will be our third month trying even though we've only been married for two. We can't wait.

Can't wait to go back to work (I'm a teacher) my co-workers are really bad about asking about that stuff.
They used to constantly ask a co-wroker who I know was having major fertility problems... people should just shut up and MYOB

good grief i had my aunt ask me this and i nearly burst into tears - my family doesnt know it but i had a historectomy and cant have kids - i wish they would just leave me alone they are all calling my grandmother asking her like every day.

makes me totally regret getting married - we live dtogether noone asked me this - now all of a sudden it is every one's business.

People really need to learn they have to not ask this question.

Cute now, when you're removed from the situation...scarily creepy when it's actually happening.

I LOVE being asked that question actually!
I think of it as a compliment to how happy you seem to others in your marriage.

I am waiting for about a year but I love to talk about baby plans.

I don't think people care if you are happy or not in your marriage, they are just nosy!!
We waited 4 years after being married to start TTC. We heard all the 'so when...' from alot of people, EXCEPT my grandmother. My mom says she never asks because she had 3 kids, 2-17 months apart so she knows how hard it is to have kids.
My advice is to wait and enjoy your time alone together. Parenting, while great, is VERY hard and time consuming. I am off today for my bday and I am having a ball doing whatever 'I' want, when 'I' want!!

thank you
i wish i could find a nice polite way to tell them to back off - it doesnt help i am in my 30's so the older women in the family are all wanting to push me to start a family - they dont understand - i think they would be worse in shock if i told them - my family is complicated - i mostly just smile at them and then go home and cry.
people dont understand that that question can be really cruel.

Re: That Darn Question....

It's hard...I have a friend who has been trying for a while (has had two miscarriages) so it hurts her so much when people ask....

People started asking me the other day since I was commenting on cute kids at my DH's gig....I love kids, am mainly a child therapist, I was like we JUST got married -ugh!!!!!!!
