C - Oh you’re welcome! Its plants, right? I asked for plants in a little basket for your front step, like last year.
A - Uh, not likely dear. They are not like last year
C - What do you mean?
A - next time, call White Iris. 631-321-4747. I hope you didn’t pay a lot for these. They’re just awful.
C - Oh….

Long pause

A - Well you wouldn’t want me to NOT tell you, would you?
C - Well I’m sorry you’re disappointed.
A - Well I don’t know WHY you would order from anyone other than White Iris. You KNOW they do the best flowers. Jim is the BEST! He did the flowers for your wedding! I mean, this, this was just a waste of money. These… I can’t put these on my front step. The neighbors will laugh at me!
C - Ok, well…. Sorry about that. I didn’t mean to send ugly flowers mom.
A - 631-321-4747. It spells IRIS, You can forget it. 321 IRIS.

Would it have been so terrible for your mom just to say Thank you instead of spelling out the telephone number of the florist ?

I bout my mom flowers too, but she can't see them because I had to bring them to the cemetery.

I actually can't complain. My mom has been in a menopausal upswing for some time now so I feel like we can have our usual fun conversations now, like friends. But when she's in the downswing, STEAR CLEAR! I would be having the same convo so I can totally empathize.
