The coolest thing ever
I just had to share this since I think that it's just so awesome and it really shows there are some good people still out there. It's quite unbelievable and everyone may have done something different with it and that is ok. But here is this particular story.
We were told on Sunday at our church service that someone that belongs to our church won 3 million dollars in the lottery. The cool part is that they are donating ALL of it to the church !!!!
Our Pastor was so cute when he was telling us what he was saying to them. He said, 'You don't want to buy a car, or a... fill in the blank here, anything????'. They said they want to but they feel that this is what God has asked them to do with the money...
The craziest part is that a few weeks ago in one of the sermons our Pastor was telling us about how much we are growing. We are growing by about by 100 people per year and it's becoming tight. They are making a some adjustments to get everyone in and eventually they are going to go 'portable'. This means they get a truck, load it up and go somewhere they rent .Then when it's over they load truck back up and bring it back to the church. It's a lot of work. He told us other stuff like how they would have to get a new building and it's not that easy and it's a lot of money to build something new. But ... then his exact words were 'unless God wants to drop a few million on us' !!!
And then this happens !!! I couldn't believe it. I had tears in my eyes.
He of course told us how our church does not condone gambling in any way. And that this was a donation to them and that the church doesn't play the lotto. lol: He said we had to say this because you never know what people will think.
He also said that a lot of the money will be given away since he feels that God is testing them on giving this money to our church. Basically he could build a new church with a lot of room right now, but then what good what that do if you just use it all for yourself. It's kind of nice to give back to others, especially when it was not at all expected.
Our church does a lot with other organizations and a few weeks ago there was a guest speaker on sex trafficking in China. Our church donated a lot to them and our Pastor feels that this is some how a way of getting back from being so generous with others. But yet he is still going to give a lot of this money away.
I just think this is awesome. Whether you are religious or not or whatever, it just shows kindness in this world really does exist.
