I'm not going to get involved in the politics of it because it's well known here that I am conservative, right leaning, my dad's nickname for me is 'Ann', and I am the devil
BUT, true or false, does this give employers the option to drop their private health care benefits and make their employees buy their own?
I heard this a few months ago, but I don't know if that was a provision of another incarnation of the bill than what passed or just heresay. Legit question...does anyone know if that truly is the case?
Because if so, I'm nearly certain my boss will drop the health care to save a buck, and then I'm SOL.
I'm quoting myself, yes.
Does anyone legitimately know the answer to this question? I think I got lost in the shuffle here.

I think it depends on how large your company is... if there are more then 50 employees your boss is going to be required to provide insurance...
I think that is the answer to your question , but I am not sure

From what i read. people will still get coverage through their employers. But who really knows in the end.

From what I read, employers that have 50 employees or more are required by law to carry health insurance for their employees or pay a penalty.
Employers who have less than 50 employees are NOT required to carry insurance but IF they choose to, they are eligible to receive a 35% tax credit.
I would cite to this but I read it somewhere on CNN.com and I can't find the link now...
hope this helps!!

Re: The Health Care Bill
here are links to the actual bill (hey, it makes for good bedtime reading!)
I love all the interesting comments here. And I love how you all keep it respectful which to me is the most important part.
I am a proud Fox news watching Bush voter. The man wasn't perfect, but he treated our country with respect. Our country is going to be completely run by the governement if we keep Obama in the White House. I can't wait to NOT vote for him again.
I'm really curious.... how is it that Bush treated our country with respect??
The way he treated New Orleans after Katrina? The comments his mother said? The guy who actually knocked the towers down is still free..... and yet we are at China's feet looking for money for a war with the WRONG country. The way he sat in a classroom reading a book when he was told a plane hit the world trade center, the face he made as he stared into space for a few seconds before continuing to read to the kids? the information he had prior to the 911 occurrences that he ignored? the gas prices while he was in office? I could go on... but these are all the actions that formulate my opinion of him.
I'm really curious to your answer...I'm really asking seriously. Nothing sarcastic. I'm being really serious. I'd like to know what it is that he did with respect? I just see it the complete opposite.
Date Twin- My reference to the fact that he treated the country with respect relates to his adherance to the constitution....not forcing people into a Health Care bill that they don't want and not forcing people to have health insurance.
I don't know about your claims above, specifically in regards to 'The way he sat in a classroom reading a book when he was told a plane hit the world trade center, the face he made as he stared into space for a few seconds before continuing to read to the kids' I wasn't there so I'm not sure that's what went on. Do you really believe that he wanted to leave the guy that knocked the towers down free? And why is obama still sending troops in there when he said he'd be pulling them out right away? I am not the most political girl on the block, but I do know that your dear president is making a mockery of us. I am embarassed by him. Oh! But at least he doesn't babble. The man talks a good game.....which is part of the problem I fear.

Not that I want to be involved in this thread anymore, but to address this, if Obama just pulled out all the troops ASAP, there would be absolute chaos in the aftermath and it would not be safe for our country or theirs. There needs to be a defined exit strategy and in order to stabilize the area, you need to send more troops before you can take them back.
When did Obama say he'd be pulling out the troops ASAP?
War is a lose-lose situation unfortunately. There is never just an easy solution, which is why to start one, there should be a long thought-out plan decided on, which there wasn't.
And I'm sorry that you feel Obama is making a mockery of our country. It's funny, because I do believe the rest of the world was mocking us for the eight years prior, as well as the majority of the country.
I hate that this thread has evolved into right vs. left, Obama politics vs. Bush politics. I won't be involved in it any longer because I believe that the original point of the thread has been lost while people just defend their own political parties. This is turning into a p*ssing contest.

And I have to agree that I believe the mockery making started when GW was president...I'm not saying Obama has stopped it but we were certainly being mocked with our former president.

Thanks...I work in a small company (10-11 employees any given day of the week ), so we're definitely not REQUIRED, but I sure hope that tax credit will be enough for my boss to keep it.
