The non-givers.....

Original post by andrewsbride

There were many that didn't even bring a card. Do I have to send a Thank You card?

I mean the least you could do is make a card if you can't afford one.

no way! we had quite a few non givers as well. they get no thank you!

we had a lot of OOT guests and I know how expensive it is to come and stay in NY. but come on, no card?!!!!!!!!!!!

ETA: hmm your posts about how you will only thank them for coming intrigues me… maybe they will remember how they never gave us a card.

I hate to sound like this, but I wouldn’t dream of going to a wedding and not giving anything.

I don't know if any of you saw it on the '05 board, but a month or so ago, I posted about how my MOH didn't give us a gift OR a card and whether I should say something. A few girls said that they wouldn't feel comfortable giving a card that didn't have any money in it. I'd never thought of it that way. I think some people said that they'd be embarassed to give a card with no money. Personally, I'd be embarassed to have attended a wedding and not given the couple ANYTHING, even a card.

ETA: I'm sending everyone a TY note - maybe those who didn't give us a gift or card might be inspired to do so or at least feel bad for not even getting us a card I'll even send one to the person who gave us a $14 cookbook from Williams Sonoma

I didn't send a thank you until I got a card.

I think this every time this topic comes up. If I wasn't giving a gift, I don't think I would call attention to that fact. I personally wouldn't go to a wedding without a gift, unless I had already sent it, or intended to send it later for some reason. In that case, I would send the card with the gift, not give an empty card at the wedding.

We sent them to everyone who came, whether they gave a gift or not. I was happy that they came and wanted to tell them that.

In my opinion, anyone who went to the wedding should get a thank you. After all, we invite people because we want their company, love and support on that day... not for a card or money or a gift.

I did have some who didn't give anything , even a card. I was a little taken back but that's not the reason I invited them to the wedding. Their presence was enough.
