I am 25% Italian and 25% Russian on my dad's side. My mom is Irish, Canadian and German.

DH is 50% Italian, 25% Irish and 25% Polish. It KILLS him that his last name is Irish and not Italian! He was always jealous that my last name was Italian. Think maybe he wanted to change his name to mine

Re: the unofficial NWQOTD

I'm 50% Italian from my dad, and 25% Irish and 25% Swiss from my mom. You know what that means...that I speak Swedish fluently.

If I had a quarter from every person who has asked me that in my lifetime, I swear....

Uh, just in case it's not abundantly clear, it's two different countries. I feel like I'm the proudest of my Swiss heritage, not because I'm close with my Papa, au contraire actually, just...it's different. If you ask 50 people what they are, about 45 of them are going to say Italian or Irish. If ONE person says they're Swiss, that's a shock! Over here at least, it's much more common in Wisconsin, some parts of the south, and Texas...we're distantly related to Renee Zellweger!

DH is 50% Greek, and 50% Italian. I like to remind him that he's Italian too, because you would almost never think so by his full name and the way he tells people...Greek is always first, and Italian is the afterthought after he gets prodded!

Well, I'm very glad that you know they're two different places! You would be surprised how many people think they're the same place I get...but you're not blonde? Then I say no, not Sweden, Switzerland, and I get...but you're still not blonde? AHHHH.
