I used to drop money on shoes, bags, makeup, etc with no problem at all. I didn't think twice. When DH and I got engaged I cut back. Now that we're married, I'm such a cheapo; it's ridiculous. I would never even think about shopping in Payless before. But tonight I went and bought a pair of boots for the bad weather we're expecting. They cost $30 and I feel so guilty. It's not like I got the $245 pair of Uggs I want! Dh keeps telling me stop being silly, but I seriously watch every single dollar we spend now and don't shop for extras that we don't need. I haven't bought a Coach bag in so long!
Did the wedding do this to anyone else?

Re: The wedding has ruined me....
Yes and no. Yes that I won't spend as much on me. My favorite stores are Target, Old Navy, Steve & Barry's, Payless. But now I want to spend all my money on stuff for our apartment (example..the new couch, chair, and ottoman we got right before the wedding.) And I basically want to buy out the entire crate and barrel store.

I am less apt to just impulse purchase. But unfortunately you can't change a shopoholic

Re: The wedding has ruined me....
Not really but I'm more conscious of what I'm spending now. If I really want something, I still go ahead and buy it....but of course DH is there to make me feel guilty

Re: The wedding has ruined me....
I don't really think so but we are saving our money so we can get a place of our own. Right now we are living with my mom and it's getting difficult. Michael's brothers wife aka SIL always wants everyone to go to a restruant for the holidays and we find that to be crazy. You can make a nice dinner and have family over. That is what we are doing. The restruants are too expensive.

Michelle I'm with you 100%. It's a good thing I normally find things on sale. This way buyers guilt does not really come into play.

Re: The wedding has ruined me....
Yes. I used to be so bad spending money like it grew on trees. I never searched for sales, used coupons, or stepped foot in a department store.
Since the wedding I still shop in most of the same stores, but I always try to buy sale or clearance items. I also shop more in stores like Kohls, Target, TJ Maxx for household items. And I always use coupons. I've become such a cheapo.

Re: The wedding has ruined me....
Kind of........it's not just My money now and it's not all about Me, but about us. I could buy my dream purse, or a new wardrobe, but I have a house payment now, and we want a baby so it puts things into persepective........Sometimes I hate growing up but then I remember I can watch soap operas and eat ice cream in my pj's at 3am without being told to go to bed. I think it's give and take. I won't deny myself, but I think about what I REALLY want and need a tad harder now.

Re: The wedding has ruined me....
i hear you all too well on this one! ive never really thought before about prices of groceries and such, i was much more careless or carefree about my shopping...now im so much conscious of prices! which is good...to be smart,ya know. but i hate having to be so restrictive at times. but we're trying to save to get in a house.

Re: The wedding has ruined me....
OMG, I have to say that living with DH totally ruined me ... even before we were engaged!!!!!!!!!!!!
I totally second guess myself when shopping now, hardly ever buy anything 'just 'cause' anymore and its so pathetic!!
but now that we are saving for a house, its not going to get 'better' any time soon!

Re: The wedding has ruined me....
after wracking up WAY too much credit card debt in college, i've been really thrifty. it really changed me. my big thing was concerts though, not clothes/bags/makeup/etc. if i wasn't going to a concert or two every weekend, something was wrong. and it wasn't just club concerts, it was big names, big venues, $60-$70 a pop. and then i had to drive there, get the tee-shirt, buy too much beer. .. . $$$$$$$ and i did my fair share of shopping at jcrew and buying numerous pairs of kenneth cole shoes/boots. i still love all those things, but i don't buy any of them anymore. i only shop jcrew on clearance, still wear my fav kennth cole shoes i bought during those college days (but haven't bought a new pair in 8 yrs or so) and cry every time a good concert comes through AZ and i can't afford to go. but yeah, definitely not the wedding that did this to me!!
